here we go again... why is it that if people don't like EVERYTHING that a band ever records, then they're not really a "fan"? i don't understand the reasoning behind that. i think SFBM is their weakest album, by far, but that doesn't mean i'm not a fan. i've bought every album, i buy every import single i can find, i've seen them in concert over 30 times, i've bought a ton of Live merchandise, i have a box full of local newspaper articles about Live and various magazines that feature them that i've been collecting over the years, but somehow i'm not a fan because i don't care for one of their albums? and all this time i've been throwing away my money for nothing... sarcasm.gif

Then why is it that you figure it's time for them to stop making music??

Why not just stop buying their albums and going to their concerts, then that way you can pretend they have quit and you have your wish

I can say for sure that Chookie does not want them to quit. In fact, the vast majority of us here do not want Live to stop doing what they do, including me and other harsh critics of the past album (or two, or three). We are allowed to be negative about the band, while being fans. The "you're not a fan" bullshit is like saying "If you don't like America or you disagree with Bush, then why don't you go live in another country." People are too fucking wrapped up in their own beliefs these days to allow any kind of personal expression and freedom that differs from theirs.

Oh wait, not "these days". It's been happening forever. Why do humans have to be so brilliant and so fucking stupid at the same time?

That doesn't make sense.....If he doesn't want them to quit then why did he say that it's about time they quit?

Are you kidding?? Call it quits?? And what is with this "about time they moved on comment"?

If your telling me you got no joy from their work on Black Mountain then your not much of a fan..... My greatest fear is if they stop making music. The only time when a band should consider stopping making music is if there is no inspiration left to inspire new material. Songs from black mountain is full of inspiration from a band that has withstood the music industry for nearly 20 years......AND can still make music relating to their lives now. Sure their sound is very different to the deep rock sounds of Throwing Copper and Secret Samadi....but if they continued to make albums similar to these we would get bored. Good on them for making different material in accordance to the points of their lives. It keeps up guessing about what their new albums are going to sound like. Bring on the new albums i say. yahoo.gif

Oh no, I'm not a true fan because SFBM was a pile of shit.

i dont want them to quit, I just want them to quit making shit. If they keep going they're bound to make a good one. Didnt ed say he made V exclusively for the fans? So what were fans saying after TDTH that made him write thatn abomination? Maybe he'll do the same this time...

I have not posted on here because I was little confused as to why there would even be such a thread on a FANS of live website, but now that I have seen them in concert again, I have to say that they still ROCK! It was awesome, they are still working together as a band, they are all good.

The music is changing because they haved changed. They grew up, got married, had kids, made millions and are happy...whatever, I still think they are awesome, always will.

I would be devasted if they "called it quits"

PS - SFBM songs are so much better in concert, extended intros, heaps more guiter
