I don't see why anyone would come in here if they thought Live should call it quits.

What I'm talking about is that it's possible that at some point a fan of the band might think it preferable for their music writing endeavors to come to an end, before they reach the point of death (or mental/physical inability to keep playing/making music). Goddammit.

Some of these fans think it will go on forever. In which case it will be like the Basket Case video. They will just wheel fucking gracey out there with a drip pan of some sort.

I've now got images of a 95 year old Chad Taylor with a mohican and not being able to stomp due to his arthritic hip, Chad Gracey with his catheter bag hanging off a cymbal riser, a little hunched and wrinkly Ed with his armpit hair plaited a'la Willie Nelson style and Pat actually dead and nobody noticing as that's been his stage persona for quite a few years now... they'll just keep wheeling him out and wondering what the smell is.

A lot of us are close to the age of Live band members. So if they are playing concerts at age 60, they won't seem that old to us at all. If they are still having fun and putting on good shows, why should they stop? Just my two cents.

Alright you two - off to separate corners.

As to LIVE's viabilitiy as a band in the coming years and their ability to remain relevant, I think the NEXT album will be the one to tip the scales either way.

If they can mix up the songwriting a bit and get some of their edge back, I think they'll be fine. As long as they keep producing songs like Night of Nights and fewer songs like Mystery and The River, they'll do fine...

If they keep going down the campfire church camp singalong route, then they'll be in trouble...

That's why SFBM is like two different albums for me - there are songs on there (Night of Nights, Sofia, Show, Where do we go from here) that remind me why I love LIVE... the other stuff isn't so good...
