Ok, here's what's up:

You made an empty, stupid statement. I called you on it. You can either respond, and attempt, with some degree of systematic logic, to invalidate my points, or you can go on as you have been, ignoring them and simply continuing to make more empty statements. The former would show that you're willing and able to carry real, actual discussions, whereas the latter makes it seem as though you're unwilling to even consider alternative viewpoints.

If you believe to be correct, admit it. If you don't, then consider my points, and state, for all to see, what reasons you feel you have for disagreeing with them.

It's your call.

I believe I am correct. I don't see why anyone would come in here if they thought Live should call it quits. I have a feeling others would agree with me. So, I don't see your point about how it's an "empty statement." I think you like to just push other people around, make them feel small, and they'll just cower in your shadow. No thanks. Not for me. You didn't call me on anything.

First:

Regardless of how you might feel, there clearly are reasons for people who wish live would stop making music to come here, as this thread was started by someone, and, well, I'm here.

Second:

You didn't say "if you think live should stop making music, then you shouldn't be posting here", you said "if you think live should stop making music, then you aren't a fan", at least implicitly. It is that statement that you need to defend, though I doubt you'll be able to. I don't believe that being a fan of a band in anyway requires you to want them to continue making music until the day they die.

I only push people that actually are smaller than me.

i dont think Live should call it quits, but when i see a thread saying that they should call it quits when this is spossed to be a fan site i got a little curious....i think that is maybe why a lot of people came and posted their opinions, not because they agree that Live should quit making music.

First of all, don't quote me as saying something I didn't say. Second of all, I don't need to defend anything. I said what I said, and I meant what I said. Don't try and twist it around.

Last of all, I never said a fan had to "want them to continue making music until the day they die." Did anyone see me post that? I didn't think so. But, I would expect if you are a fan, you would want them to continue making music and not "call it quits" any time soon.

In answer to the original question, No, I don't think Live should call it quits.

The reason Live sing so many songs about water is because Ed is a Cancerian. (A Water sign)
I noticed this when I first listened to TDTH. Alot of songs without water in the title had water mentioned somewhere in the song. I'm a Cancerian too, so I can relate to those water songs, and Eds love of water.
What I love about Live is that no matter what my mood, there is always a Live song I can listen to. I love the fact that all the albums are different. I have them all in my car and I listen to them all.

There's little-no twisting going on here. You accused the person that started this thread of not being a fan, even though they never said that weren't. That accusation was implicit, but it's clear that it was there. They posted that maybe live should stop making music, you said that they weren't a fan. So in actuality, it is you who is twisting people's words and responding to things not said by others.

And then accusing me of doing that to you.

Doesn't make much sense to me.

So, you admit that there is some point at which they will need to stop making music, for whatever reason, yet you fail to understand that some people might already feel that they've reached that point. And, in addition, you accuse a person that does feel they've reached that point of not being a fan. So, you recognize that at some point they will need to stop making music, and yet, believe that anyone who disagrees with you about whether or not they've reached that point is not a fan of that band.

How does that work?

It's called being brainwashed by blind adoration of an entity that, in reality, cares little to no shit about you.

Refer to the idea of "doublethink" in George Orwell's 1984.

Haha...I didn't twist anything. Even more, I didn't accuse anyone of a single thing. Your entire argument is solely based off of your interpretation of what I said. You're writing paragraphs of arguments about one simple line I said way back when this thread first started.

And, yes, I admit at some point they won't make music anymore. When did I ever state the opposite? Gosh...someone must be getting on my account and writing all of these things you're accusing me of saying. Talk about accusations.

Are you fucking serious? What the fuck did you mean when you said "if you're not a fan, be gone!"? I think it's pretty fucking clear that you make some degree of a connection between being a fan and wanting them to keep making music. Which is what I'm fucking asking you about. Do you not get it? You seem to think that because he recommended that maybe live shouldn't keep making music, that he isn't a fan of the band. Now, if you didn't mean that, then please, clear this up now with some alternative interpretation of that statement, because I don't see one (and not surprisingly, you up to this point have not offered one).

From my point of view, it's both possible and easy to want musicians whose music you love to stop making it. I've explained this to some extent, but if you're still confused by it (which wouldn't surprise me) I can explain it more.

Goddammit. Are you retarded or what? Obviously they'll stop making music at some point. They'll fucking die at some point. What I'm talking about is that it's possible that at some point a fan of the band might think it preferable for their music writing endeavors to come to an end, before they reach the point of death (or mental/physical inability to keep playing/making music). Goddammit.

1000% agreed.

I'm getting the chance to teach it to my high school students for the first time. What an amazing experience to discuss some of the issues presented in the book with a group of eager inner-city students who have never had their minds stretched so far before!
