Agreed! thumbsup.gif

Honestly, what are you thinking posting something like this on a Live fanboard? I'm all in for that freedom of speech thing, but don't expect too much support here...
Btw, happy belated birthday +Ed+!! smile.gif

I can't tell from your response, but I do hope you understand that my entire post was said with complete sarcasm. To honestly blame LIVE's recent, eh, slippage, on Europeans would be pretty silly. lol.gif

ok then, no harm done wink.gif

QUOTE(Lis @ Sep 12 2006, 12:21 am) *

Hehe, nobody wants to grow up and some people manage to put it of almost indefinately. But it is fascinating how, when you grow older, most emotions seem to mellow out. yeah I still see injustice and what not but hey what can i do about it by myself? Somehow it all mellows out a bit. In general it just isnt as intens as it used to be.
I must say that it seems like Ed has gotten to that mellowed state in the extreme. And with Ed we dont even get the "i have a crappy job" feeling that some of us in this day and age feel like sometimes, cus he is a musician and loves it... And lyrically that is just plain boring. Im happy for him that hes there, cus he used to be one angry young man. But musically... I cant wait till the kids grow up and hit puberty or whatever that will make him feel something interesting again. Happy people just dont seem to write very interesting lyrics or music for that matter.
One of the main reasons i love LIVE so much is that every album is different. But i do preferr music with a bit of balls in them, thats one of the reasons why V will always be special to me. It may not be the most succesfull experiment they ever did, but at least they went out on a limp.

And to top it all of... if nothing of this gets to Ed emotionally... maybe this will. Adams lyrics are more interesting then yours right now Ed. From what I hear his shows bring a little something new every time aswell... Lets fire up the sibling rivalry if nothing else LOL. As you may or may not know I might be a bit biased where adams concerned, but I seriously feel that if they both keep going in their current directions... Adam will be the more interesting musician to keep track of in the future.

my 2 cents (again) LOL
Lis

*nods in agreement* I'm glad Ed's very content with his life and nothing would be more pathetic than an angst ridden 30 something who seemingly has it all. but like you say, it more often than not makes for boring music and trite lyrics.

And you can be as biased about Adam as you like. hearts.gif I love his music and he's to be admired for one point alone - he's the only person I've ever heard cover a Jeff Buckley song and do it justice. Gotta love the boy! That reminds me - I'm really going to have to get round to buying his second album like I've been meaning to since it came out.

back to Live....
I think that they should try to be better , without esperiments.
Try to go back in time to Throwning Copper times...
but I think they should never say that they give up...that they go on retirement and won't play music anymore.
Here in Poland they aren't popular and really few people know them and I;m still waiting for a Live-era here.

Adam has done quite a few Buckley covers. I know I've heard him do So Real and Lover You Should've Come Over. I think he also did Lilac Wine once.

I'm glad to see thumbsup.gif that some people have the same passion as me. I'm not saying that I want to go back in time to TC. I want Live to come out with new original music that rocks. I want to be able to go to a Live concert and have friends actually not go "They still make music?".

I clearly don't understand (unless you love the new stuff) why anyone wouldn't agree with what I've been saying.

I do think, however, that this topic has obviously stimulated some interest in the messageboard lately.

[Ya know, I can't help but wonder: If Birds of Pray sold 8 million albums with the exact same songs it has on it now, then how many people would be complaining that Songs From Black Mountain needs to sound more like Birds of Pray?

I think ALL of Lives stuff is great (except V). I don't judge music by how many records sell, but by how good it is. When I hear people calling Live stale, and not original enough I have to laugh. As a musician, I think Live are one of the few bands that can stand next to the greats like Queen, U2, Elton John, Springstein. Music is in a pathetic state right now, I am so glad Live do make the music they make now, otherwise I'd be stuck listening to my Pink Floyd and Bob Dylan cd's 500 more times. Seriously, with the exception of a few short lived bands, there has been no consitancy in rock music since the mid 80's at best. Live are the exception to this rule.

there nothing wrong with listening to Floyf and Dylan 500 more times, though i agree with you about LIVE being great still. Exept for the V commment i love that album.

Music is stale though I mean if we have reality shows to find new bands we seriously need to teach our children well.
