Final Cover Contest Voting Round, voting ends on July 2nd Options

Voting for the final round (#4) is now underway and will end on Sunday (July 2nd). In this round, you must pick your favorite entry. If you accidentally vote for the wrong entry, please let me know and I will change your vote. Entries that have been eliminated are no longer be available for download - only the remaining 4 entries are currently available for download. Only registered members of the Message Board will be allowed to vote (due to abuse in past years contests, guest voting will not be allowed). More info is available in the Contest Section. The winners of this years contest will be announced on Monday (July 3rd).

I have voted all the time for Simple Creed, that song just rocks my way over and over again, great singing voice of Vanya and the dark heavy voice of Dmitri are great, not to mention the great musicians who are playing....really a great song performed by great musicians.

i agree simple creed is awesome, but my vote went to raising a man. i like it just a little more and thought it showed a bit more originality. looking at the votes so far though, i concede simple creed will be a great champ.

I agree that Simple Creed is great, but my vote go to Turn my head....it's really a different version.

I don't think this contest gets the attention it deserves. Seems like everyone who does a cover puts a lot of time into it, and I know Dan does.

My thoughts on the 4 finalists:

Raising A Man - Really surprised someone covered this. This is my favorite Public Affection song. Hard song to cover, and she did a good job.

Simple Creed - Almost perfectly covered. Maybe a little too close to the original version. Tricky's part was done amazingly though.

Turn My Head - This is my favorite Live song so it is really hard to live up to my expectations. The beginning of the song sounded like "My Heart Will Go On" . Overall pretty good. Definitely commended for being the first one to submit and making it the finals.

White, Discussion - The sound quality wasn't as good as the other three, but the cover was decent. Probably could've been louder since this is supposed to be a loud song. Also a difficult song to cover so good job.


Had to go with Simple Creed though. I was just amazed how how well it was done. One of the best Live covers I've ever heard!

I have to pick between my three favs and my choice is still White Discussion Vocally, the hardest cover of the four and the most playfull with adlibs and all. You just get a sense that these guys were just jamming and having fun
