No they aren't, my point is that going by the quality of TGF and The Turn, Chad's guitar playing and riffs were an absolutely crucial element of Live's sound, whereas conversely the albums where this is dialled back and they coast on Ed's melodies (not his fuck awful lyrics), are utter crap by comparison. Similarly, Shinn's vocals are not a patch on Ed's but The Turn is still a far better album than SFBM for instance, because of the writing in the music. In my opinion of course.

So to say Chad needed Live more than Live needed Chad (as has now been explicitly stated by this Hynes bloke) does not seem reasonable to me.
