Exactly he is no longer a member of the band Live. But he was a one of the founding members of the band named Live. No, not the name Live the BAND LIVE and the MUSIC they made. I won't stretch this out any longer, lets agree to disagree.
But just cause he is a massive dick who makes shit music now does not take away the fact that he was there from day one of the music that was made under Live (and before).
CCP jamming on some chords and beats and shit before Ed came in is really negligible.
I know and am sorry you guys are so butt hurt (as am I) about this whole Ed vs CCP thing but get some perspective here. I can't stand what Ed has done to the guys and hate his new music but come on.

Honestly I agree, but if we're talking about technicalities...
It's the sort of statement that doesn't really mean anything though, by that logic they're all founding members of Live. The way the promoting is intended to make you think is that Ed is the founding member and started the band. It just goes hand in hand with his attempts to talk himself up that he was the only writer and only driving force in Live to help his case (literally). He is no more a founding member than CAG is, and my point is that technically he's less so as he was the last to join. Yes he was there equally at the creation of "Live", but as far as a collective group of individuals, he was the last ingredient (a very important one) added.
So using "founding member of Live" as a way of advertising seems incredibly cheap.
Isn't former lead singer enough? That tells you all you need to know, that he's the man that sang in Live, he's "the lightning crashes guy". Using "founding member" is just a pure ego stroke.

Not if Chris Shinn doesn't last.

So what if Chris Shinn doesn't last? They are never going to trust Ed to front and be their band mate ever. Get that through your thick, uneducated skull.

It'd be like your wife cheating and stealing from you then leaving you and doing her own thing, being with another guy. Concurrently, things don't work out for you and your new relationships. Would you want to get back with her? Answer the question, Nicholas.

CCP let Ed do most of the songwriting work, but took 75 percent of the songwriting royalties anyway. Stealing abounds.

If Shinn doesn't last, he is also former lead singer of Live. That is why founding member and former lead singer carries more weight.

I'm closing this thread for now as the conversation has moved from whether Ed is being marketed incorrectly to something else.

If another EK date is announced and you want to discuss the way it is billed, send me a PM and I'll re-open the thread.

If you want to talk about the contribution of each member, there's this thread:
The Songwriting of Live

Ed Kowalczyk Formerly of LIVE or Ed Kowalczyk of LIVE.......all the fans care about is that he plays the hit LIVE songs.

So you are stating that people do not see him for his new material and that he has become a Legacy Act. Got it.

Personally, if I did go to see him I'd hope to hear only 2-3 Live songs and with the rest being his new material. I could see where most others would be disappointed.

But you are right, most fans only care about what he did with Live ~ and primarily what he did with early Live for that matter.

Live in general is mainly a legacy act. They can play new material, but the majority of the crowd goes to the show to play the hits. Do you honestly think that Live 2.0 is going to focus primarily on new material when they decide to go on the road?

Probably going to focus on new material. Yes and have longer, more room to breathe setlists.

Most real bands focus on new material on a new tour. Ed doesn't, Ed focuses on legacy.

QUOTE
ED KOWALCZYK, legendary lead singer and songwriter of the multi-Platinum rock band Live, is launching an acoustic tour called “I ALONE” ACOUSTIC, a nod to one of one of Kowalczyk’s most famous lyrics.

KOWALCZYK has built an impressive résumé that includes eight full-length albums with his Live bandmates that have reached gold and platinum status in 9 countries, and nine Top 10 radio hits such as “Lightning Crashes”, “I Alone”, “Selling The Drama” and “Heaven”, and his first solo album in 2012, Alive, which spawned the hit single “Grace”.

With over 20 Million albums sold worldwide, Live has become one of the most successful and enduring alternative rock bands of the last twenty years. KOWALCZYK will be performing songs from his entire Live catalog (“I Alone”, “Lightning Crashes”, “Heaven”) and songs from his solo album, Alive, in this intimate and acoustic performance.

One of the main elements that have enabled KOWALCZYK and Live to maintain a devoted fan base is the substantial and durable nature of his lyrics, which have often reflected Ed's personal and spiritual concerns. “My approach as a songwriter is to write songs that are not finite and will resonate with listeners for a really long time,” KOWALCZYK asserts. “Twenty years after our first album, Mental Jewelry, I am still able to get something out of songs we recorded in the early 1990s--and I think that one of the reasons why we’ve had so many fans for so long is that the fans are also continuing to find nuances in the songs.”

KOWALCZYK is excited to be sharing this new look at some of the biggest hits of his career in this dynamic and unique unplugged performance.

a new marketing slant for penisEd.

he's legacy 101 in this write up. Based on the second suit, this seems to be his answer to playing these songs and ruining them. I give him that acoustic is the way to go, but let's be honest.

He's done.
