Hello, I guess Im really not new but it has been a while since I logged on. To Make matters worse I forgot my password. Thanks dangum for helping me out with that. I never introduced myself when I started out so im taking the time to do it properly.

I have been browsing the topics for a little while since all the new info on a new LIVE singer. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. I'm excited for CCP and CCCP. Its cool that they love LIVE as much as we do. I have been a fan from the moment I heard Operation spirit at like 2 am on Mtv after stumbling in from one of those high school parties. (to be young again) My love for the band spread to my brothers and together we have seen the band countless times. I loved the intensity, the anger and the thirst to question in the bands lyrics. At the time I guess I was thinking and questioning things the same way. Now i'm 39 married father whos love for LIVE has never ended. During the course I did become a Christian. That dosen't mean I'm a pussy who doesn't want to hear kick ass music and is afraid of the word "Fuck!" if its good music i will listen to it. From Neil Diamond to Kiss to Michael Jackson to The Dandy Warhols to Slayer. If its good its good.

I don't like that Ed changes the lyrics that really bothers me. Thats who you were when you wrote the songs ED! Trust me God isn't going to get pissed and not let you into heaven because you can't say FUCK anymore.

My journey with Live has been an awesome one. From Rolling Stone Cover days to the 2nd (or 3rd) to the last show they played in san Diego which BTW was the worst I had ever seen them play. I was plenty pissed. I did sell my extra copy of Secret samadhi vinyl at that show to a fan who was super stoked. Ed stopped and chatted with My wife and I for a bit. Those things made me happy show still sucked.

You know what else sucked is that I bought the 2 year homespun fan club and then they broke up and I didn't get shit! Bummer! Chad if your reading this hook a brother up.

Every record released after MJ I couldn't wait to buy. Including SFBM, TGF and Alive. I think I have over 200 cd's of the band. From regular U.S. releases to Belgium promo's. Its always an awsome feeling when I see something I don't have on Ebay. ( I check almost everyday) Im looking for stuff so if you guys have any rare or just cool cd's let me know if the price is right and i don't have it I will buy it.

I'm not happy about the break up. I did like that both sides went and recorded new music. I thought that would get my band back together. NO! TGF was a cool album, different. ALive was ok. Both Albums had songs I liked. I don't like that they broke up but I'm not hating on any sides. Ed was wierd from the begining but he was rebel weird and I had that shouting White Discussion poster in my Apt. for years caused looked crazy bad ass! BTW White Discussion video is the best! Over the years he did get soft, Music was different but I did try to enjoy it. They are my favorite band! The albums weren't MJ, TC, SS or TDTH but they still played awesome and I saw them everytime they were with in driving distance. I don't know what and who did what to cause the break up but I respect all of them. It sucks but me bashing on Ed or CCCP dosen't feel right to me.

I'm very interested to see whats going to happen with Chris on the mic. I saw some videos of a couple performances and he did sound great. Not and Ed impersonator which is cool and what I was afraid of. Chris has a good sounding voice. I bought has solo album. He sounded a bit like Thome Yorke and then guess what he covers Pyramid song on the album. Cool suprise.

Well sorry for the long ass intro and my rambling. I'm glad to be back surrounded with fans of LIVE! Hope to hear from you guys soon and im ready to partake in some of the discussions. Looking forward to see what happens in the future with CCCP & Ed.

Oh before I forget. Who is This Nick guy you guys always talk shit too!

Hello everybody!

Well, actually I started posting here about 6 years ago, when I was only 14 years old, I think. I had been a lurker for some time just to get some news about my favorite band, but what made me make my first post was this ridiculous discussion about which band was better: Live or Tool...

In my eyes no band could ever be better than Live so i made one very emotional post in favour of Live (with some very bad arguments and baaad English writing) and didn't really get why people made fun of me afterwards. I think I made a couple more posts after that, but didn't always understand all the discussions and after some time I decided that I would go back to lurking and just use the forum for news and Live-gossip.

Since then a lot of things have happened: Ed went crazy, I studied one year in Germany, Live split, I learned to play bass and became a hobby musician, we got The Gracious Few, a new lead singer, and I developed a slightly different taste in music. Don't get me wrong I still absolutely love Live, and they are one of the only 90's rock bands I still really like listening to with Ed's aura, raw voice and great, spiritual lyrics (that weren't yet mediocre, simplified parodies of his own songs) which still speak to me in so many ways, and the band's way of backing him up, creating tension and then rocking as hard as any fucking rock band ever has, especially in songs like "White, Discussion", "Pillar Of Davidson", "Ghost"...

All that I still really appreciate, and with all the exciting new projects (such as Live 2.0 and TGF) I thought that maybe it was time make a re-entry into the Live community and try to contribute to this board. Not only benefit from all the great posts you make. Live has been a part of my whole youth and their concert in Copenhagen in 2006 remains one of my fondest memories to date, so hopefully you'll soon start seeing some more posts from a long-time lurker and fan.

And by the way: In terms of musical skills Tool is a far better band that Live. On the other hand which band is the better one is just a silly discussion because they are so different and they both fucking rock guitar.gif

Hi all
My name is Andy. I'm 31 years old and reside in Brisbane, Australia. I've been a Live fan since 1995. I heard All Over You on a Hot 30 countdown and voted for it every night for a month.
My first Live concert was on their Secret Samadhi tour on 1997. I've been to five concerts and met the band through FOL on their 2000 tour.

I'm a long time lurker. Been visiting this site since its inception but have only had permanent internet access since last year.

My favourite Live album is Throwing Copper..my favourite album ever in fact..I loved Secret Samadhi and the Distance to Here. Both great albums in their own different ways. I enjoyed all songs on V, excluding OK?..perhaps the first live song i never enjoyed.

I love Ed as a vocalist. My favourite ever..I liked his delivery on Alive, even though the lyrics were shite. "Ham fisted cliches masquerading as deep poetry" - a quote from Who mag.. I still get drunk on his voice. Only exception was the accoustic sessions from circa 2000..especially on I Alone..gees..great way to ruin a great song. I'll never not buy an Ed K release though.

That said i am excited about the Chris Shinn era..I loved reading everyone's posts on the debut show. The excitement was tangible. And contagious..I'm eagerly looking forward to the next chapter of Live. Hope to be a part of your board.

Cheers

Welcome!! smile.gif

Thank you for the kind welcomes...

Nick this is the best thing ever, this little jewel of a messageboard on an obscure Internet island. I am so happy to be here where you hang out! This is wonderful! I appreciate your welcome.

Not to worry Diane, I owe you so much for bringing me here, if we meet someday please remind me to buy you a drink. You are too kind.

Lovely place, I think I'll find myself a spot on the couch.. right between you two lovely fans. So much love here it's beautiful.
