It was so fucking awesome!! Fantastic! I'm sorry i didn't record anything but i haven't got any equipment. It was my first concert anyways so i decided just to enjoy being there and have a good time. The crowd and the band was really "on". The atmosphere was fantastic. My cousin got both Chad's drumstick and Adam's plectrum (is it called that?), so i guess this was the "Night of Nights". The jamming song was cool. The band sounded really good in this one, and Ed kept singing something like: "Sunlight in the day, Moonlight in the night, What size are your shoes? who are your muse?" I hope, that there were someone else who recorded the concert, because that was a special night.

The band "Live" obligates and the group absolutely did not disappoint. Five out of six stars
(The review was written by Henrik Thranum and translated by Malene Hald) [there may still be a few mistakes as a result of the transcription]

"Surely they could've played a little longer", said the person next to me in a very ironic tone. We had just been the witnesses of a truly amazing concert with a band that like the Duracell-bunny just kept going and going and going. In more than 2.5 hours Live delivered a persistent and highly powered concert so that one could be tempted to rewrite the four letters in "LIVE" to: Lidenskabelig (passionate), Inciterende (exciting), Veloplagt (in good form) and Energisk (energetic).

It was clear that the five band members were very comfortable on the stage in the sold out house, where the majority undoubtedly knew all Live-songs. With the most energetic audience the good rhythms and waving arm gestures spread fast from the stage to the back rows on the floor and the balcony. In that way the energy from the band came back ten times, and perhaps it was this synergy which gave the quintet undreamt powers and a huge desire to play, and they even took the time to test an unfinished and brand new song at the end of the concert.

Even though the American band Live has made seven studio albums, it's still the music from the 90's and especially their second album "Throwing Copper" from 1994 that stand out as the most memorable. In the wake of Nirvana, Live accomplished to combine the rough ways of the grunge with more melodic and measured guitar sounds and they were looked upon as one of the more important players of alternative rock.

As people and as a band, Live has matured considerably with age, and the sound of their latest album "Songs From Black Mountain" has become a lot more moderate and laid back than the early albums. The new songs, which are all written by the sensitive lead singer and family father Ed Kowalczyk, are so nice and polished pop songs that they can't possibly insult or offend anyone. The lyrics swarm round idealistic and spiritual subjects with songs about love for nature and his daughter, anti war songs and hymns with a political correctness bounding to the high-flown. Everything is wrapped up in melodic pop-rock songs, which unfortunately seems to lack some of the edge and nerve which marked the band's greatest hits from the 90's.

That is why it was wonderfully liberating that even though the concert was to promote the new album, the majority consisted of some of the band's oldest and greatest hits through time, with a total of seven numbers from "Throwing Copper". The whole thing was kicked to a thorough start with three of the more hard-hitting songs and a band which rightfully had ascribed to a more raw rock attitude. The tempo fell a great deal though, with the following execution of the two new songs "The River" and "Mystery", and a cover version of the old Johnny Cash song "I Walk the Line". In this way the tempo and the mood curved up and down, by which a clear contrast raised between the silent periods throughout the concert and the high tensed and very rocky moments, where the whole house sizzled from excitement and people jumped to the rhythm of the music.

Live are eminent and very professional musicians which deliver their thing to a great extent. And it is only the very few, stagnant passages which don't give them the sixth and last star. But with an amazingly energetic band, 2 and a half hours of intensive entertainment and a play list which looks like a "Best of" album, probably nobody left the concert with a disappointed look!
Review by Michael/"river_rage" of Denmark
Let me start off by saying that this show was nothing short of spectacular. Of the 8 shows I've seen this was easily the best one. And that's saying a lot. I'm sure that this Black Mountain - White Light World Tour 2006 is going to be the one that all subsequent tours are measured by.

The guys started the concert by kicking butt with a highly energetic rendition of Simple Creed. I've always wanted to hear that song in concert, but I must admit that I was a little disappointed that they didn't start with Rattlesnake because... well you know, it's Rattlesnake. Obviously I had no idea what was to come.

During the concert the band and especially Ed captivated the audience with his amazing charisma and stage presence. He was belting out the songs and reaching out to the eager crowd, which was loud to a degree that I don't think I have ever heard before. Ed said at some point "You're a tad louder than Sweden. I know you love to hear that stuff," referring to the eternal rivalry between Denmark and Sweden.

The concert was just filled with other great moments that I'll try to describe as good as my memory and English allows me.

Ed had a piece of paper almost right next to his setlist with the lyrics to I Walk The Line. He hardly looked at it though, and at some point he almost slipped in it, which caused him to give it a big kick. Great stuff!

At another time he took a step forward so he was standing with one foot on stage and the other on the fence right in front of me. So there he stood belting out the words, while people were grabbing on to his leg, to support him or maybe in the women's case, feel him up ;-)

The first encore rocked and during Iris when Ed sang "And the presence of my knuckles" he was right in front of me so I held up my closed fist and we knocked our knuckles together. Talk about good timing :D U2’s "Bad" in the song was nice as well.

It was also super cool to hear Mirror song and W,D rocked as hard as ever. I really, really love that extended ending, but every time they get close to ending the song I get anxious that they won't do that ending. However my worries were unfounded and when they kicked into it, it was pure bliss. I even managed to grab a drumstick (thanks Chad). I also think it was at the end of this first encore that Pat gestured to the crowd if we wanted more songs and acting all goofy afterwards :D

There also was an extra stand with a mic over at Pat's side of the stage, so he did some backup vocals in a few songs. It was Wings and another one I think. Always cool when he does that. Also at another point in the concert Ed and Taylor were kinda doing battle to see whose guitar was the loudest or something and Pat swooped in and settled it by strumming his bass just once to the amusement of everyone. That man is so cool :D

One of the best moments of the concert was the improvised song in the second encore. Ed came up to the mic and said something in the lines of "We’re going to do something we've never done before. We're going to make up a brand new song right here on stage." And then he dedicated it to Copenhagen and asked us not to steal it or anything haha. Ed started on his guitar and then the others joined in. There were lots of jamming and Ed cued the others on which chords to switch to. The fragments of lyrics that other fans have posted already, sound about right to me, so I won't bother with that. Even though it wasn't the most amazing song ever, it had a really cool vibe to it and the fact that they did something like that, was just awesome. Shows how tight they are able to play. I think it was at the end of this song that Taylor went over to Pat and forcefully started to turn the machine heads (or is it called tuners?) on the bass so it became totally out of tune while Pat was playing it.

The best moment of the concert though, was when they came out for a third encore. The crowd just wouldn't let them go. I was really not expecting them to come on stage again and neither did I expect them to play Rattlesnake. I had dreamt about them playing both SC and that one, but I was in no way prepared for it. After talking briefly among themselves they launched into it and it was every bit as powerful and haunting as I had hoped for. It was without a doubt the coolest thing ever. And to think that I had thought that I would never get to hear that song.

After that Ed said that they had exceeded the curfew so they would just play one more song. I think it was at this point that Gracey played a few beats of something that sounded like Freaks to me... Which made my heart skip a beat. They played Love shines instead though, and it was really good.

I counted 21 songs on the original setlist so they did 6 songs more than they had originally planned. Overcome was on the setlist as well, but for some reason they didn't play it. The concert was a perfect mix of songs spanning all their albums and the Songs From Black Mountain were fantastic in concert.

After the concert I was really really lucky and got to go backstage. (Thanks, you know who you are) That was an amazing experience. The guys were very forthcoming and down to earth and I got my backstage pass signed by all of them and my drumstick by Gracey. I could go on about the after show for another page, but I'll stop here. It's getting late.

I feel so privileged to have experienced this magical show. Live once again cemented why they are my all time favorite band and the fact that it all happened on Danish soil makes everything even better.

ROCK ON
