So here it is a topic very close to my heart.

What are your top 5 bands?
Now they dont have to be in any particular order or from any particular decade or country.
I'm interested in what music people listen to other than LIVE.
you could even ad reasons why or how you happened to come across these bands.
I am currently stuck for new bands from any generation to ad to my collection as many modern bands bore the life out of me so please post!

MY TOP 5 BANDS

THE CLASH

LED ZEPPELIN

IRON MAIDEN

THE WHO

LIVE

All of these bands have had a major impact on my life in one way or another.
For LZ they were the first rock band i ever heard and new the moment i heard them that i wanted to bea rock god! IM blow me away with there story telling imagry in songs like rhyme of the ancient mariner and hallowed be thy name THE CLASH just rock! its hard to remember when i first heard them but all i know is they are the greatest punk band ever! THE WHO are a band that won me over with their stage antics smash guitars, amp, drum kits and playing at 120 decibels!

AS for LIVE it was my best friend and now my hetrosexual life partner who turned me on to LIVE and have loved EDS lyrics and the over all bands playing in such a way that it seems that the songs made the band not the other way round.

I also tend to stick to my favorite core bands - but I've been like this since age 3 lol.gif I've always had a 'favorite band'. It went - Wings, Men at Work, Duran Duran, and finally , Live. The top 5 bands I listen to right now are -

1. Live

2. Widespread Panic ( I HIGHLY suggest you give them a try)

3. The White Stripes / The Raconteurs ( both are Jack White)

4. Duran Duran

5. Ani DiFranco

I am also digging some older Pink Floyd right now thumbsup.gif

Live, Epicure, The Exploders, End Of Fashion, and then the fifth constantly rotates through the following:
The Vasco Era
Faker
The Grates
67 Special
Wolf & Cub
Love Outside Andromeda
We Are Scientists

... I'm going to stop now.

But all are worth checking out.
Out of that lot, I would say at the moment, the fifth possie is tied between the Vasco Era and The Scare.

Vascos are a most AMAZING live band. So much energy. They are ridiculously awesome.
GO SEE THEM! DO IT!

Stuck for new bands when you have the internet at your disposal? I'd suggest you're either set in your ways or rather lazy as I've found all my favourite bands over the last 5 years that way - bands I'd never have heard of any other way.

Anyway, my favourite bands at the moment are:

InMe (by a long, long way - shamefully underrated young band)
Muse
AFI
Ours
VAST
Septembre (get off your arses, lads and make an album!)
The Dreaming (god, how I hated Stabbing Westward, but Chris has redeemed himself)
Exit Ten (are definitely shaping up well)
