It's a decent album, but I think it was one of Live's worst efforts. It sounds to me like Live wanted desperately to not write Throwing Copper II, be mysterious and sound dark, and all of that comes off as very pretentious to me. It lacks the innate energy that all of their albums have, and feels the most awkward. That's one of the greatest assets SFBM has: it sounds like they really wanted to write those songs. SS sounds forced and lost.

Lmao.

You're a complete fucking moron.

haha! dude that was the funniest things ive heard all day. However, my day has been quite boring, but still that was hilarious. rockin.gif

O right... Secret Samadhi is one of my favorite albums. I have it in my CD player right now! I love Unsheathed, Gas, Rattlesnake, Insomnia, hero... I hate century. Why did they put that in there?

secret smadhi is the first album i recommend to strangers of live because i think it has the most to offer. I cant say it's my favourite, but i cant deny its power.

I love Century!! happy.gif It's so freakin' weird, I think it totally fits the feeling that SS carries out!

Secret Samadhi 's one of my favorites too. For me, it's the only album I can listen to all the time; it doesn't matter what mood I'm in, it just always suits!
I really hope they're gonna play those songs more often!

Well, I accept that peoples' opinions about music differ.

Secret Samadhi was the first Live album I bought and I still love it.
I think that songs of sheer beauty like Turn My Head, of exploding energy like Unsheathed or with an exceptional melodic pattern like Freaks can't emerge forcedly.

Secret Samadhi is a masterpiece and is my favorite album ever. Even outtakes from that era such as Cheetah are awesome.

I just wish there was a better studio version of that which doesn't sound like it is only coming through one speaker sad.gif

id be happier with a better version of photograph. live needs to do one of the those deluxe edition releases for this album. maybe then we would get great sounding b-sides from this era.

I love half of SS, songs like Rattlesnake, Ghost, Turn my head, Insomnia, Lakini's juice and Heropsychodreamer are some of Lives finest work.
But I seriously can't stand Century, Unsheathed, Merica, Freaks and Graze. Skip them every time I listen to SS.
Gas hed is fine I guess..

Just my thoughts.

I like SS, the entire album, but still rate it 3rd behind Throwing Copper & The Distance to Here.

looking forward to the new cd,

MacArthur

See the way people define their 'favourite album' differs completely. On one hand i look at people who say 'Throwing Copper' is their favourite album and think, 'well they only say it cause it's that kinda raw rocky type of album'. Where as my favourites are TDTH and SS because they touch such an emotional side to me. But im sure TC does that to people as well, but if i want an album to just 'listen' to and not really connect as much it'll be Throwing Copper.

That's exactly my thoughts aswell, T.C. is a great rock album to listen to, but the others have that something different.
Don't get me wrong though all the albums rock but on different levels. rockin.gif
