I was browsing through the forum and found this post where Chad Taylor says this:

With our MCA/ Universal contract long behind us, +LIVE+ are permitted to rerecord any song under our considerable catalog. Yes, this would include rare gems such as “Hold Me Up.” This means that +LIVE+ would control the master rights, meaning we could finally set a release schedule without consideration from a major label. There is a ton of demand for these recordings, so we’ll be back in the studio by late August to track these. This also means we could come up with some pretty amazing packages for the fans that weren’t previously possible and/or available.

This was posted in 2011.

Since then, Live reformed with Chris Shinn - no re-records. Not that anybody really wanted to hear "New City" with Shinn on vocals.
Got back together with Ed Kowalczyk - no re-records.

Yet another broken promise.

I don't think we will ever get these unreleased tracks.

I can't imagine what it would take to get these four guys in the same room together at this point. Let alone recordings of unreleased tracks.

didn't they re-record lightning crashes with Shinn which appeared in some tv show? it was horrendous. I think there were others.

Yeah, they re-recorded All Over You, I Alone, LJ (which was what was used when CG and CT recorded their jam thing a few months ago), LC, and Selling the Drama. I'm pretty sure they're on here somewhere in the Multimedia section.

I thought the shinn versions were amazing! I remember the day when the live website had those songs playing with Shinn on vocals and it really felt like we were going to move forward with Live. In addition to those songs, they also did a version of the dolphins cry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwLIXN1kyzI

I will actually die on this hill, but re-recordings are horrendous.

Chris Shinn is a wonderful singer. The Turn is an awesome album.

But it’s not Live.

Re-recordings in general are horrendous, or those ones specifically?

We'll have to respectfully disagree on The Turn being Live...
