Replacing Sound Garden at a Festival. Opening for Guns and Roses. This is big stuff. I don't know if promoters have scouts like pro sports teams, but if anyone in the music business is paying attention to the quality of these shows and the response they are getting, I have a feeling that Live is going to be busier this year than Trump's impeachment legal defense team. In the mid 2000's I saw them play on a small roadhouse bar stage under an overpass in Baltimore (I can't even remember the name of that dive) and now they are looking out upon tens of thousands of fans singing along to every word. It's great for them - although I wouldn't mind seeing them up close and cozy at the Chameleon Club and I sure hope they haven't outgrown that.

Edit: I just looked it up. The Baltimore Club was called Sonar. Worst place I ever saw Live and I am pretty sure they knew it, cause I think it was the worst Live show I ever saw. But I digress.

Worst place I ever saw them was the gym at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. It was kind of borderline like watching a band at a school dance. Saw them two other times that year at much better venues.

BUT, the performance was awesome and I was able to make my way to the front of the stage through all of the frat bro's.

I am gonna have to try to convince my wife that a trip to Hershey is in order.

I'm assuming Hoodstock knows what I know--that Axl is crazy and if he gets his panties in a bunch, he walks out or cancels shows. I'm probably the biggest glam rock lover on this board and you'd think I'd be excited over this but I'm not. GnR had good music back in the day, but with the exception of Steven Adler, I never liked them as individuals, especially Axl. no.gif

I don't want Live opening for anyone. They deserve and are relevant enough to headline. This makes me worry about them fulfilling their promise of a headlining tour.

Yes, I know I hastily posted without researching first. Seems GnR have a smattering of openers through their summer/fall tour, which is a relief because first seeing this made me think Live could be added full fledged.

In October GnR plays my city (didn't even know; confirms how little I pay attention to them). ZZ Top opens then. --Dammit! But I still stand by my comment that (after the festivals) Live NEEDS TO HEADLINE. tongue.gif

Has this happened since G'NR reunited, or is this comment being based off of previous incidents?

Yea, you got me. Honestly, I think he's been relatively stable since they reunited. I still just don't trust the guy and am relieved Live doesn't seem to be signing up for long term with them.

Hoodstock, what were your thoughts?

Hasn't happened in a long time. A lot longer than the reunion tour. Has been more professional since 2006
