Apologies if this has already been mentioned, but I didn't see a thread.

Music On Vinyl will be re-releasing SS and TDTH. both with limited coloured vinyl editions and special sleeves (TDTH is embossed), on June 2nd.

That is all.

As far as I can tell these are re-issues initiated by Music On Vinyl, a Dutch based company which re-presses albums as core business. Their reputation is not without issues.

They did TC back in 2012. http://www.musiconvinyl.com/catalog/live/throwing-copper

It's been a long time since i visited FoL for the last time.
Today i got good studio versions of Hold me Up and Susquehanna.
And good quality tracks from DOAD.

This made my day. thanks everyone.

If anyone knows where i can pre-order the colored variants, please let me (us) know! smile.gif

I don't have any experience with Music On Vinyl myself, but from googling I gather people reporting concerns in both sound quality and production quality of albums they re-release. It should be noted that some of these reports are from a few years back, and others report that the releases are perfectly fine.

As these are 'private' releases (without the band or its publisher being involved), we don't know what they used for source. Of course that only matters in case you actually plan to play them lol.gif

Btw, next to the limited edition orange/silver discs (2000pcs), they also make 500 pink vinyls as a Pinkpop edition.

If you want to know what MoV used for a source, you only have to ask them, and they will tell you. Sometimes they get Analogue Master Tapes, sometimes the original Metal Masters, sometimes the license holders send them 96Khz 24Bit files. It just depends what is available.

Every release is fully licensed, and it is not necessarily accurate to say the bands have no say, it depends on who has the right to license the music. If the label has the rights, they may well not involve the band, but that's not a given.

Occasionally they differ from the original release, for instance, their version of Tiny Music by STP, they were supplied the unedited masters, so the opening ditty Press Play is not faded out and continues for the full 4 minutes.

You can preorder the coloured variant of SS on EU eBay, I don't know about eBay USA. The release is a month away, I would expect more eBay traders to have both up for preorder soon. I've always gotten them from eBay with no problem.

I have purchased multiple MOV releases, and never had a problem. The packaging and sound quality are usually very good. I'm glad these are going to be available again. I have all 3 original variants of SS and the original TDTH, but I'll gladly pick up the color and black of the MOV presses.

I've asked them and they didn't tell me except for the fact it "is all in consultation with the band".

More info (or promotion) from them is expected later this week.

I'm sure they'll be able to tell us before the release. They've always told me whenever I have asked before.

Could be they haven't actually pressed them yet, although that seems to be cutting it a bit fine!
