Apparently Live is working on a second album with Chris Shinn. The group was recently in the studio writing and recording new music. Full story below:

Guitarist Chad Taylor of Live has recently revealed on his Facebook page the band were snowed in their studio during Winter Storm Jonus in York, Pennsylvania, which gave them an opportunity to write and record new music. However, currently there have been no plans revealed for a new release.

Live’s last album was 2014’s very underrated eighth studio album The Turn, which many fans considered their best effort since 1997’s Secret Samhadi. The Turn is also the band’s first album featuring Chris Shinn on vocals, replacing founding member Ed Kowalczyk who left the band in November 2009 in a seemingly bitter departure. Shinn was previously the lead vocalist of Unified Theory which also featured former Pearl Jam drummer Dave Krusen and Blind Melon members Christopher Thorn and Brad Smith.

For the record, they all can do what they want but I have zero interest in this as a Live project.

I bet Chad wrote the Siren's call riff over a decade ago. I dig that song. I wonder if he has anything good left up his sleeve.

The riff of Sirens call was indeed created during SS era. He said that he didn't know what to do with it, how to put parts of the song together.

They wrote music in York (CCP) 2 weeks ago. I think Shinn wasn't there, because he is already jamming with other guys according to his facebook posts. So it's FAR from a record yet...

I wonder if Chad actually listened to DOAD over the holidays. I'm sure they could cough up a solid album with all those tapes of rejected material.

I care. I really liked the Turn. I'm totally down for a second album with Shinn. I have zero interest in another Kowalczyk album.

It's news, but ultimately nothing to get excited about. Bands write music all the time and it just seems that they spend less time than ever doing it in Live 2.0. In my wildest Live fantasies, we'd see them being inspired by this and spending time in a frozen winter cabin in Alaska and writing a dark slow album about the bitterest parts of humanity. I really enjoyed Til you came around on The Turn but can't expect them to go that direction in the future.
