I was just thinking, Ed should cover songs from The Turn in concert (after the "20" year anniversary of TC tour winds down, sometime in 2017 or so).

It would be cool if he performed an acoustic version of TWAIT. He's covered other songs on tour, and Chris is covering his songs, so why not. I think he could do a killer version of that track.

Most of this song is in the perfect register for him.. I can hear his voice singing these lyrics: "The glare off the sign is blinding. And there’s no way around it, It’s mine. Believe tonight we’ll see the truth. The only way around is through. Believe tonight we’ll see the truth. The only way around is through."

There are much cooler bands to cover than Live 2.0.

By the way Ed of 2005 - today would mutilate the songs on The Turn.

However, pre-2005 Ed would kill them.

This is seriously one of the dumbest ideas ever. Ed covering anything from The Turn would look like a pathetic attempt to cling to Live and his former life. Saying that "Chris is covering Ed's songs" is straight up nonsense too. Chris is singing Live songs, not Ed songs. Live is not covering Ed solo songs (nor should they). The two parties are clearly trying to move forward - I don't understand why some of the fans can't do the same.

Are most of you really this pensive all the time?!
First thing I thought of, was hearing Ed sing TWAIT would be sorta funny.
Damn, I'm so glad I have a sense of humor.
Maybe the original post was tongue in cheek?
And if it wasn't, who the fuck cares? It's that guy's opinion and because it differs from mine or your's, it doesn't make him a troll. Isn't that what a message board is for?!?--To discuss how one feels? How boring would it be to all agree? Boards would be pointless.

And btw, Chris Shinn IS covering Ed's songs.

If they both covered an entire Sonny and Cher album I would pay good money to see it, especially if Ed was Cher.

There's definitely some moments that I have thought I could hear Ed's Verizon of how the song would sound. And you SHOULD get that feeling, because that means even with Shinn, you can still hear Live in there. That is what I had hoped would not be missing, and although some aspects of The Turn don't sound like Ed's Live, there are definitely moments that are distinctively Live.

I think that is as good as we could have hoped for.

I like the idea and would love to hear it. But, yes, it'd be kind of awkward, and unless he just chilled out and sang it in his cool-chill voice, he'd probably destroy it by trying to match Shinn's power.

This.

There are times when I can totally hear what Ed would have likely sounded like if he were vocalist on this album. Chris isn't perfect, but he is an ideal replacement. Chris sounds more like 1997 Ed, than the Ed of today ever could.

100% agree. This is the root cause as to why Ed is off doing his own thing and not rocking with Live anymore or ever again.
