thanks for posting the youtube version. I like it. Parts of the music remind me of songs like Insomia and the Hole in the Universe. This is obviously quite different, but something about it feels like it could have been a decent path taken after Secret Samadhi.

I am sorry I do not hear what you hear. I do not like the song, it has a very generic poppy chorus - this is an Ed like song. Am I the only one here? Possibly Nick likes it.

Man, I was afraid of Siren's Call being decent, with the rest being filler-ish.

These four songs are as far away from Classic Live as you can get.

It DOES sound like an Ed song. facepalm.gif

Listen to "Show" from Songs From Black Mountain. Very familiar sounding, with very similar (not exact) drum patterns, as well as guitar playing. Melow to harder chorus sections.

Still infinitely better than anything Ed-led over the last decade. Live fans are coming back in droves. Something Ed was not able to accomplish. Instead he sent them fleeing for the hills.

Sorry for being the newbie, but who is Nick? eh.gif
I read a lot of posts with people referencing him. A lot of of times, sarcasm. Sorry, just trying to become a little more familiar with the community. Thanks guys!

I think my comment on Natural Born Killers sparked you Live 2.0 hate. Nick focus. This is only one song (at least at the moment) that sounds like Ed. The other three are very good, while DRTW and 6310 R. are also great. All these five songs are Live.

Welcome to the community! With that being said, you're better off not knowing who she is.

On first listen, it's okay. Which for me, is good. I rarely like music on the first listen.

I like how they're slowly pulling back the curtain on what new Live sounds like. It's a new lead singer plus 14 or so years of growth and experience from CCP. So it's going to sound different and grow on us in different ways.

There's room for improvement, but it's all growing on me quite well. I'm already getting these positive emotional associations with the opening of TWAIT since it was the first new (what I consider) "real Live" since the late 90s.

An "Ed-song"? I can see how people would say that, but CCP are loud and clear in it. None of the Ed songs really had that.

That was the biggest reason for Live's downfall over the last 10 years or so. It became an all Ed show and it really alienated real Live and music fans alike.

You can tell from the finished products, and even in concert, Ed felt the need to dominate the music. The instruments were turned down and subdued while Ed was full force. On top of all that, his voice changed, got weaker and sounded pretty bad for the most part.

While the tunes and lyrics are different from the original Live structure, it's very refreshing to hear the instruments again and a vocalist that makes the music soar again. This is what is going to resonate with the past, present and future fans of Live. Not the prima donna Ed-only version we all grew to hate.

The lyrics by Shinn don't resonate with me at all, and if I see another slow motion Chad Taylor guitar solo video again in my lifetime it will be too soon.
