Why? Is someone bashing? Why can't i like BOTH? Or not like BOTH? Truthfully, i don't really listen to Ed as much anymore either.
I have just finally realized the live i loved will never be again.
This "new band" jus isn't live. We all know it. Sad but true.

I have memories and that's fine by me.

It's funny you said that. It took me so very long to get to that point - starting in 2001, after I was disappointed with V, I've just been waiting and waiting and waiting.

And when I finally realized what you said, that Live as we knew it was simply gone - I actually started liking Ed's newer stuff more. Not Alive, I can't get into that. But the EP had some promise and I bought a few songs from TFATM.

But I was very anti-Ed until I said goodbye to old Live and opened myself to something different. Ironically, as I listen to recent Ed performances, I think he's sounding a lot better. Could just be me though.

If you are a fan of V, BOP and SFBM you will probably not like the new music. If instead you enjoy live from the TC / SS era the new music rivals much of what came off these two albums.

Considering I've been a fan since 1992, I can say without a doubt that this sounds nothing like Live from the TC / SS era.

Go back and listen to live performances from that era, even the shitty crowd recordings. You could actually tell there was music being performed.

Hopefully, with a good producer, these can sound pretty decent on the finished album. I'll be as happy as anyone else here if this album is awesome. They've had more than enough time to make it the best album since the 90s. Let's see if they can actually do it...

I really do hope it's just the audio.

lol smile.gif
I give it a chance...and I will go to a concert if they come to Norway.
What I'm gonna miss is Ed jumping around, it's not the same with a vocalist standing and playing guitar all the time...

Hello everyone! I have been reading and reading posts for years and just had to finally throw my two cents in…FINALLY!

I think this is a great way for the LIVE community to stay in touch, even with grievances and certainly with praises. The topic of LIVE has just been bothering me for quite some time, and I just felt that I needed to vent, put my words out here and sit back. So, I apologize in advance if I come off as being crude in my comments.

So overall, I agree that this is in fact a new approach for CC&P (original members). For me personally, I think Chris sounds great, and while this is certainly not the LIVE from the 90’s, I understand that it will never be again. Ed is certainly in the past, and I do wish him luck. No hard feelings. With that said, it doesn’t mean that I agree or like their current directions, or think that the new material is great! (Just my opinion)

Historically, I think LIVE has had the tendency to surprise people when it came to recordings and especially with their live shows. I was actually one of the few to dig subtle (not all) things that Railo was doing back in the day, and thought Adam added some flavor as well. Their ‘core’ albums alone stood out with good sonics and passion that was developed in both their instruments and presence on stage. But now…I just don’t find anything exciting out of their songs…so far. Perhaps they will sound a bit different with dubs and adds in the recordings, but this has yet to be seen. Granted the audience recordings aren’t great, I just cant find anything good out of any of the songs. Honestly, I find them to be ‘safe’ songs, and after such a long ‘break’ that they had as being LIVE, I would think they would have taken off the gloves and kicked some a$$ with a much more aggressive approach. Perhaps they can surprise me when the album/CD comes out, so for that matter, I think there could be some possibilities. I’m just doubtful. I think LIVE’s better days have come and gone.

Taking a snap shot of where the guys CURRENTLY appear to be in their lives (as entrepreneurs, producers, family men, etc.), I don’t think LIVE is that important any more. I certainly don’t take that away from them. I think it’s great that they are getting involved in other areas of business and so forth. LIVE has always been something that they have had, so it’s just so easy to just come back and go as they please. But, they definitely don’t appear to be hungry anymore!

I understand that ‘ROCK’ music has changed over the years. Quite frankly (based on the ‘new’ music that I have heard thus far), I think they could have done the same level/type of stuff with Ed. I don’t hear anything ‘rocking’ (from a traditional sense) from that particular selection (I believe 5 songs so far???). But then again, the other half of the album could be fantastic. ??? To me, I think CC&P should have stuck with The Gracious Few…period, end of story!!! Definitely much more excitement in their recordings, and their live shows really ROCKED! There was much more passion, and they seemed much more driven. They could go from hard, to soft, to mellow to aggressive. Perhaps this was based on their frustration and anger from the hiatus? I don’t know. But I liked The Gracious Few much more! Again, I think Chris Shinn is a good singer. I dig his other musical ventures and think that he adds more ‘grit’ to the LIVE songs, as a 90’s version of Ed had done. BUT…how much longer can you carry on singing lyrics that were created and performed from someone else? Yes, I know bands break-up all the time… BUT in this particular case, I just think the steam is gone and the LIVE that I have known is but a memory.

Seeing them with Chris 5 times so far, he has brought new passion and direction to the band, as much as I use too dig Ed, I would not want to see them back together with him, those days are gone, we saw it coming for a few years and Westbury NY was the end, CT has stated numerous times they are now happy again and that's all that's matters for both parties, this is like an ugly divorce and we all need to just get on with it and like it or not, move on....The Gracious Few will be laying down some tunes from what KM told me, and I know they have about 16 songs in the vault, he will even be in PA to get together with the guys so do not count out new TGF, when the new album hits, give it a listen and chance...Im happy for the guys, less drama, no plexiglass, Ed is happy...its time we all get happy and over this

Shinn just forgot that part. I have now accepted that he is a little goofy and clumsy at times.

Did Shinn forget? It sounds like Pat was also ready with the back up vocals before Shinn hit the chorus. Maybe they planned to get rid of the bridge, or maybe Pat forgot. Someone knows.

Same chord progression, so Pat plays the same notes anyway. Shinn starts to scream and then realized he forgot the line, then goes directly to the chorus. Didn't show smile.gif
