I am relatively a new fan (last 5-10 years) Loved Snakes and Arrows and generally enjoy the new style. Probably cause it's the one I gotten into Rush with and worked my way back into their catalog.
I'm only 30 so not like I'm some grumpy old fart pining for the good ol' days of Rush. I'm not really a die hard fan here either way.
I think one reason I'm not getting into it is that I feel they aren't covering any new ground here. (contrary to all the reviews I've read)
The last few albums, though I really like, sound really "samey" to me. So perhaps I'm just getting tired of this formula.
Oh well, if it clicks it clicks if it not so be it. Plenty other music to sink my teeth into.

Indeed. Like it or not. I understand why you don't like it. I'm a fan of Rush since 2008. Not a very long time.

So after a few more listens I think this one will stay in the "mehh, it's alright" category. Don't see it getting too many spins from me in the future.

I really like the album, but to be honest, it isn't better than a handful of the older Rush albums. It will never be a true masterpiece like 2112, Moving Pictures, Pernament Waves, Hold Your Fire or Counterparts. But i also like this album more that Snakes & Arrows. Can't wait for next year when i'm going to my first Rush show. I think this is my 6th favo Rush album, so it does mean i dig it.

I'm sorry... did someone say Rush? The strings on the album.. not to mention on tour! Excellent sounding and well integrated. I was curious to see how other fans would react to a string section on tour, but they did a good job with it I think.
