Seasick Steve & Dallas Frasca Options

So I'm not long back from Bluesfest up in Byron Bay, absolutely mind blowing week of music, I'm on crutches after putting my knee through hell and back at a few of the gigs and I left one of my bags at a train station in Brisbane but none of that could bring down how great it was, 37 bands I saw over 5 days, the highlight of which for me was probably The Specials and Trombone Shorty along with these two. Thought maybe I'd try make up for the flop of the last music thread I made (which was all of your fault, not mine! ) with some music that might be better suited to this board.

You may or may not know Seasick Steve (and you almost certainly don't know Dallas Frasca) but they both play the Blues just the way I like it, electric, heavy, dirty and gritty, gravely voices, plenty of oomph and make you want to stomp. These are the sort of guys that make me think TGF, specifically the front porch set, would absolutely kill at this festival. Anyways, do yourself a favour and check them out, Seasick Steve plays with John Paul Jones, which instantly gives him unlimited credibility and known for making his own guitars out of whatever he can find (broom stick, hubcap etc). And Dallas Frasca is an up and comer, a monster of a woman who comes from here in Melbourne and would probably grind you into dust if you looked at her wrong. Turn the volume up loud for these!

I stumbled on a Seasick Steve album last year and was pleasantly surprised. I'd love to see him play live one of these days.

I heard about him a few years ago when he was on Top Gear. Apparently he's huge over in Europe. Amazing stuff.

Yeah he was alway making music but really low key, just playing small pubs and clubs, no label, no albums etc then he ended up on "Later with Jools Holland" (one Of the best music shows ever) on UK TV in maybe 2007 and he just exploded from there. Spend your whole life making music, then JPJ contacts you and asks to play with you.. Pretty cool story!
