Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the response we've been receiving since Monday's VIP dress rehearsal. It is infinitely rewarding to again be able to perform these songs with the passion we all know they deserve. I'd love to write more, but we're in Austin, TX for SXSW. We'll speak soon...

I wonder if, in his blog posts, CT will share more of that book he has been working on. I enjoyed reading some of the behind the scenes stuff from when FOL sent him the letter.

I agree. It was painful to hear. It was like hearing someone beat a baby with a cat. These new versions were fresh and powerful.

It wasn't just Ed, it was the way the whole band performed the songs (admittedly under Ed's direction), it's on topic agreeing with the sentiments that are expressed in the blog, and I did love Ed. I'm actually excited about this, so think what you want really, or put me on ignore if you wish

It is good to see this band finally moving on and away from the man who led them down the road to musical self-destruction. Chris Shinn might not be a perfect vocalist, but really, who is? True rock and roll is sang from the heart with passion.

I think at some point, all Live fans started getting bored and tired of hearing Ed literally decimate the Live catalog with his ear-piercing falsetto, reaching well beyond his vocal capabilities.

And I have discovered another magnificent thing.

In 2004 Chad posted a huge text saying it was a letter to his friend and he hoped the friend did not mind mentioning it in public...

... it goes around for hundreds of words about the ego that the friend had acquired, about how he needed clearing the carma, how he should stick to not eating meat, yoga and weightlifting, how it must help him clear the mind and body.

Ed started working out around 2004-2005. That is what I clearly remember.

Would never have guessed that stuff like this would resurface in my life and now I do not know what to think. It is larger than me now.

April 24, 2004 - Boston, MA: MIT
After a steamy night of fun and seduction nothing sucks more than the 10 AM wake-up call. Fortunately today we have our own jet so it won't be too bad. Trust me last night WAS worth it!
Our luggage can barely fit but we somehow stuff ourselves into the tiny jet. Patrick starts in on how our record sales will increase if we go down 'in a ball of hellfire' and our families will be set for life. Adam double checks with the pilot to make sure everything is OK. We tease him for the rest of the day but really I was nervous too. We land with no problems and head to the hotel for much needed rest.

The gig tonight was only available to MIT students and they are treated to a wonderful performance even with Ed's voice in rough shape. Thankfully they sing really loud and help carry the melodies we are all used to Ed belting out. There is a strict curfew tonight so the show is pretty short for us but it seemed as though everyone enjoyed themselves.

We say our normal good-byes and head back to the hotel. Everyone has early flights and I am on the bus back to Pennsyltucky. See you again on Thursday.

Over those years, alot of growing up and growing apart had transpired. But CCP (with the help of CS and TGF) are happy again. If Ed is happy as he seems to be, then I don't see a downside anymore. It's all good. Excitement is abound. If you must think about the past, just think about the happy parts. I know there's a smile on my face.
