Yeah, I don't know. That new song is pretty bad. My expectations are pretty low after hearing it.

Maybe if you give it a few more listens you will like it better. I listened to it a bunch of times and I am really liking it. No, it is not what I expected. But they are 27 years older and they are delivering music that is more mature and is keeping with where they are now. The more I listen to it, the more I realize that I should not have been expecting something that sounds like Unchained or The Cradle Will Rock. That is just not where they are right now. But Tattoo is really catchy and I can see it fitting with the sound of Jamie's Cryin or Running With The Devil. 1984 was nothing like Van Halen II or Fair Warning. It took some getting used to, but over time it showed itself to be a top rank album. This song seems like another evolution from 1984 and I think it is really interesting because it is really distinguishable from anything they did with Sammy Hagar. It is like Sammy Hagar never happened. It is much more like a branch offshoot of classic Van Halen following on after 1984. And I love the video. If you love David Lee Roth and Eddie, then you have to like the playfullness of the video.

Listened to it 3 or 4 times. Didn't get any better for me. DLR's voice sounds shot, Eddie's guitar parts sound rehashed and it's missing Michael Anthony's harmonizing. I'll check out the rest when it comes out but I'm not ready to say they are back.

It's not terrible, it's not great. I'd like to hear the rest of the record.

I'm a huge fan of DLR era VH but I honestly think they'd be better off if they had stuck with Hagar at this point. He's a much better performer and singer than Dave at their age. I just don't like this at all. Glad I saw them back in the mid 80's on DLR's first go around, and with Michael Anthony I might add. Just not the same, not even worth it to me.

Sam and Mike still got it.

This is terrible. Dave is shot. Wolfgang is no Michael. Ed's out of tricks. Saying this is good is akin to saying SFBM era Live was great. Hell, SFBM era Live blows this away for that matter.

I think it sounds better than 2007 and Wolf has gotten better. That said, I love Sam & Mike. Love how that band was moving creatively. The Balance record was great art. I miss what they had, but you know how band squabbles go. I don't care for Tattoo either, I think its subpar. Now the She's the Woman track......great as it's an original from the 70's

I think Tattoo is mostly an old track too with new lyrics isn't it? According to Sammy, most of the album is old material. I just can't get past Dave. It's cringeworthy to me. With Michaels vocals gone and Dave performing the way he is, it's just a hot mess.
