10 years old....wow.

V wasn't the greatest album. It had a few good songs and a lot of experimental filler. Some great skeletons were discovered too. Transmit Your Love (Beer Down Version). The video for Like A Soldier which quickly got ignored and forgotten about. Deep Enough. Ed's haircut. Ed claiming that Overcome was written WAY after it actually was for publicity's sake in the wake of the 9/11 attacks.

Still....gotta say happy birthday even if you don't like the child.

I always liked V. Terrible, rushed lyrics, but a lot of good music. Ecstatic Fanatic would have been a better name.

I only cherish getting it a month before it was officially released....I think it was an Illout board link where I got it, or MVDB's site or something. Loved Deep Enough and Simple Creed, the rest blech.

I remember getting 6 or so minute or two clips of a few of the songs that we could download. Thought that was a great way to promote the album, and indeed I enjoyed some of the clips more than the album cuts.

I remember being in college at the time. Pre-ordered it on Amazon and paid the extra for same day shipping. 3 weeks before its release date I found it leaked and downloaded it. I was so disappointed and literally crushed by how bad the cd was, and even more so that I had paid for the cd and same day shipping already.

I remember those too! I recall playing them in realplayer over and over again getting pumped up for the album. Got the leak when it hit and, while it wasn't quite what I was expecting, I still enjoyed it. It's a great summer album to me because of that.

One thing that stands out about V is the smell of the liner notes. I don't know if it was an Australian thing, but the paper booklet had a strong odour.

Also, the V tour was the first time I traveled interstate to see a concert. For some reason Live left Perth off their Australian tour so I flew to Sydney to see back-to-back shows. I met a bunch of SOYers and caught the 'touring bug' which saw me travel to multiple cities on Live's 2003, 2004 and 2006 Australian tours.

I did not have any inet access back then. I simply entered my fave CD shop without any money (was a poor student) and suddenly: WTF? A new LIVE CD??

I rushed to my gran, who lived nearby and called my mom to tell her grab a couple more roubles on her way to her mom and hop into a shop.

Got it the very same day and loved the album from the start with some doubts about the text.

Still cherish the memories and funny enough, yesterday we went to MediaMarkt with my wife and I decided to get a couple of old Aerosmith CDs. How surprised I was to see V among Limp Bizkit and the sort there on the shelf!

Proof pic to come in a few hours smile.gif

Yes!
It did have a weird smell, which transferred to your fingers if you had been holding it.

Funny thing about that booklet, back before ipods I carried around my portable CD player and as V was released only a few days before the AFL Grand Final which my team were playing in. I went along to the final training session before the big game and afterwards the players were signing things .. I realised I had nothing on me to sign except, the V booklet.
So I got a few huh.gif looks from the players as they were handed a CD to sign. And now my V booklet is filled with Essendon signatures.
