Good for them..... Don't know much about the Rocklahoma, but if attendance is good, the exposure for TGF is a definite plus.

Years ago that festival was all 80's hair-metal bands. I think I heard a year or 2 ago that it was losing momentum and attendance was poor, so this year it looks like they are adding more current names. Looks like a great show. I wish I could pull it off, but it's not going to happen.

A brief interview with Chad Gracey

QUOTE

ROCKLAHOMA 2011 - THE GRACIOUS FEW

Due to my lack of experience dealing with other media, I missed my face to face interview with ‘The Gracious Few’. I was patiently waiting at the Media Tent entrance to greet them, when out of nowhere, a rhinestone lanyard wearing writer ran over, grabbed them and took them to her table. Really? I just stood there with my mouth open debating whether or not to say something. According to Chad Gracey, the band’s drummer… hell yeah I should have!

However, Chad was sweet enough to text and check on me and set up a phone interview, right as they were leaving Rocklahoma.

Here is what he had to say...

Sonic Shocks – Chad, the show was fantastic. Did you guys enjoy playing Rocklahoma?

CG – Thank you! Yes we really did. We have been playing a lot of small clubs, so it was nice to get to rock out to a big crowd.

Sonic Shocks – Is this your first time at Rocklahoma?

CG – Yes, it is everyone’s first time here.

Sonic Shocks – How do members from 2 phenomenal bands end up playing and forming their own band together? (Kevin Martin and Sean Hennesey of ‘Candlebox’ and Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer and Chad Gracey of ‘Live’.

CG – Well, we had met Kevin Martin in 92, saw some of his shows and hung out with him. So there was a good chemistry there to begin with. We had started writing new music (Live) but no longer had a lead singer. All of a sudden a light bulb went off and we called Kevin and he flew down the next day.

Sonic Shocks – Is ‘Live’ coming back?

CG – We are debating that right now.

Sonic Shocks – What about ‘Candlebox’?

CG - They are actually on tour right now.

Sonic Shocks – When did you pick up your first set of sticks and start drumming?

CG – I was 12 years old.

Sonic Shocks – I read that you guys donated an autographed guitar to auction off to support an autism foundation. Is that something that is close to your heart?

CG – We were approached by a friend of Kevin’s that ran the foundation. We like to help when we can.

Sonic Shocks – That is awesome that you all do that.

Sonic Shocks – Thank you so much for taking the time to contact me and do this interview. Next time will be in person. I will knock someone down if need be! *laughs*

CG - *laughing* sounds good. Thank you.
