SJN, I don't know if you are a paid promoter for Ed, or a fan who is volunteering to Admin Ed's FB page, but you have a lot to learn about diplomacy.

I booked my tickets to travel to other cities, paid for hotels, bought CDs, concert tickets, and other things. I invested years and much commerce in my love for Live. I do not appreciate being told that asking for a general courtesy of why Ed is maintaining radio silence now on such a HUGE issue is "none of my business". I'm not asking him to call me and tell me. I'm not asking him to release a detailed statement with receipts and copies of emails. I'm curious, as many fans are, as to just why his non-reactions come across as if Live was just a meaningless experience not worth mentioning.

Live CDs take up a healthy space of my music bookcase and I think they created some of the most important, meaningful music out there. Period. I've witnessed Ed talk in concert about what a family we are.

No, I don't "have" to contact radio stations, but I am being asked to volunteer to promote things that add commerce to Ed's bank account while simultaneously being told by his FB mouthpiece that I have no business asking what happened. This is either coming from someone who has no expertise at dealing with a public situation like this or it's coming directly from Ed, which is depressing. Perhaps you could tell me just how much of what you say is per Ed's instructions and how much is you just deciding what should be said.

Well, it really isn't anyones business what happened with the band. He's right. Ed owes you nothing no matter what you've invested. I could never understand why people care about something so personal within the band..... We don't know them. You really have no right even asking ..no one does. Why do you people care so much? Perhaps he is just taking the high road which is what i hope he keeps doing because quite frankly, I do not want to to hear anything more about it. I'm so sick of the crap and vicious comments of people here over the whole thing. Move on and like the music or whatever but stop trying to act as if he owes you something. Bottom line, It's not our biz. Never has been, never will be. sjn doesn't need to learn anything..move on and don't worry about something that is none of your business. aggressive.gif

It could very well be Ed's lawyers advice to not talk about it right now.

As fans we invested money into the band and supported them, but they only owe us what we paid for, Cds, concerts. Still, it is totally reasonable to question the breakup and to ask the band members for an answer.

Live made their music public, and therefore their business public. It has become a public interest. They are not required to divulge their personal buisness, but you can't expect something as phenomenal as Live to not be questioned when it ends. It is not necessarily stupid to pursue a public interest and I doubt people should need to stfu about it.

None of my business. Wow, ok. So on-limits is deeply personal lyrics about the most important things in life, love, spirituality and other things.

Asking NICELY for clarity is just plain rude.

I have gone out of my way to ask nicely. I do not favor "Ed's a tool" type posts. I try to write coming from a respectful place. But when someone says they can't understand why I'd care about something so personal as the break-up of this band, I have to say that seems odd to me. It's a very, very personal band to most of us or we wouldn't be here. To say, "Meh, don't really have an interest in why they are no more" would mean I didn't really care about them when they were together.

Bremang, I think you have a point that lawyers advice is in play. Still, it takes little effort to say that and I would understand it.

To be told to "shut the fuck up": Sweet. What a welcome to someone new to this site.

Are you serious? People DO need to stfu and whether or not the music is public ...what happened within the band ISN'T.

This subject was introduced to us at length by Chad Taylor, who made the discussion of the breakup an open forum. I don't think it is odd for fans to react by questioning anyone in the band, even if it wasn't Ed's intention to mention anything. In this recent video, Chad takes shots at Ed, which is an allusion to the bands breakup. Ed is continually asked in interviews about the breakup of the band. You're saying that we need to stfu about the breakup because it is private business, even though the topic is across the media, invoked by the band members or openly answered in interviews.

Bremang we agree on something. Chelsea feel.free to tell the Ed lover, where she can go. She's not thinking about others thoughts on the subject, and what they mean in real terms. She,s clearly in the other camp.

Well she had it right that the band doesn't owe an explanation, but she got it wrong that we shouldn't talk about the breakup.

But ... but it says she rocks on myspace!

Ok, seriously, I didn't join up here to fight with people. I will continue to try to express my opinions with respect and celebrate both old and new music from the Live camp that moves me. I'm happy to find a place where people can respectfully exchange ideas. There's an Ignore Button for those who can't, right? whistle.gif
