Alive charted decently in Australia, but didn't last long. The tour should do well.

If The Gracious Few's album eventuall releases in Australia, do you honestly think it will chart better than Alive?

Whether it does or doesn't, you won't see me clinging onto false hope and posting pretty pathetic chart listing from random countries.

Netherlands, Belgium, Australia, and the US contain Live's main fanbase. They aren't random countries.

Alive isn't even listed on the Aussie charts any longer, so good luck with that. The success in the Netherlands and Belgium has started to fade. His lack of success in the US is so severe, that you've since started posting his free fall on the Christian charts. He's just a year or two away from playing coffee houses, and hoping to sell 10 copies of Alive a night.

Ed, Chad, Pat, and Chad will always have their greatest success with Live. They can all continue to tour with new projects, but they will always be associated with Live.

Yep cos that's what we all care about. Charting! Tgf probably won't do as well but no one gives as much of a damn. I love how any shot at Ed results in your knee-jerk reaction of "well tgf couldn't do better!!".

The majority of sales for Alive are going to happen at shows and from his website, both are not reported to soundscan.

I have a question, how do you see The Gracious Few's album selling? Do you think it is going to be a huge seller in the US, or worldwide? If so, you very likely you are going to be letdown.

As long as Ed is making music that I love and continues to tour, I'm happy.

All artists sell albums at shows and on their websites, not just Ed Kowalczyk. However, because such sales are untraceable, generally, SoundScan is still the preferred method of tracking sales. So you can't really say that the album is a success because it's being sold at shows. All artists do that and it's a given.

As far as The Gracious Few, it's a different beast. It all depends on the strength of the single. However, you are comparing apples to oranges. If you bring up Ed's CD, it's almost like you have to bring up The Gracious Few as a de facto response. They're completely different and completely different markets. I think The Gracious Few will do better in the US, while weaker in the Netherlands.

Untraceable? Ed knows all about that, eh! Selling music behind the backs of his band mates!

Ninja ED!

The members of Live haven't been major stars for quite some time outside of the Netherlands and to a lesser extent Australia. Together they still have a good touring base worldwide mainly do to Throwing Copper and their 90's success. After the break-up, they are basically starting over with smaller fanbases.

The fact that Ed was able to maintain a good portion of Live's Netherlands fanbase is impressive. I'm sure TGF is hoping to do the same.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Aug 8 2010, 8:31 pm) *

On an independent label and without the name Live, it is far from abysmal. On his upcoming tour of the Netherlands, two of his dates are already sold out, and the rest of the shows are selling very well.

Ed's health in the Netherlands is still very strong.

So what you're saying is that Live's remaining fanbase in the Netherlands is pathetically small, but he's held on to what's left of it.

Otherwise, you're not making any sense at all. Not that this would be a first for you.

First of all - Ouch! I thought Live was huge in Australia. They haven't been large in the US in years (the venue pavilion was less than half full last time I saw them here) and I thought Australia was their life raft.

That being said, if Ed is only selling albums off his website out of his basement I'm happy as long as he keeps making music that I can check out. I'm not worried if it's popular, I'm just concerned if I enjoy it or not. It won't be what it was but I'm not worried about living in the past. They lyrics may suck but I love that voice.
