Wow, I just watched that cover and the LJ cover. LJ is just brutal. Kevin's voice sucks.

I hope it sounds good on the album.

Have you not listened to any of the other songs? If you don't like his voice then you don't like his voice, that doesn't mean it "sucks." This wasn't his best performance of LJ, either way, a song that they haven't performed since probably because it is a little low for him.

A little low ... he is totally off pitch and out of tune. You don't have to sing it low to sing the song - but you have to have a consistent voide.

Don't take this as a swipe against TGF, I really like Honest Man and am looking forward to the album.

I listened to a few of their live tracks on youtube and he just sounds like shit live. Everybody knows that magic that can be worked in a studio. I'm sure the album will rock but I'd be a little skeptical of seeing the band in concert base on the clips I've seen simply due to his voice.

Some singers are meant for the stage and some are meant for the studio.

I felt the same, I thought about the LJ performance here. His vocals didn't quite seem to work with it. But on the Fat Daddy's bootleg he sounded much better ... could have just been a bad night or Fat Daddy's could have just been a good night ... guess we'll find out if they keep performing it.

Speaking as one who has seen them in concert twice already, I can assure you that Kevin definitely does "bring it" during a live show. I would highly recommend withholding further opinion on that matter until you've had the chance to see them live yourself and not rely on recordings with sub-par audio quality.

I agree totally on that performance, and I also agree that it would be better to not keep the song in the original key so that it fits better with his vocal style.

I disagree entirely that about his live vocal, I've seen Candlebox multiple times and TGF once and he sounds great. I am a pretty stiff judge of these sort of things, but I also enjoy his vocal style so it might be more stylistic.

I like both versions actually. Original is a classic...no arguing there (I hope). The Few's version definitely rocks the hell out of the song, without straying too far off the beaten path. I liked how you could without a shadow of a doubt tell it was Chad, Pat and CAG playing along.

Sidenote......I wonder if 'hype' is really hype when it turns out NOT to be hype? lol.gif I think I just went...yep...I just went cross-eyed.

I don't like this version at all. Candlebox's version is 1,000 times better (I probably shouldn't say version as it's their song). With Lakini's Juice, I thought the music was good but Kevin vocals were lacking. With Far Behind, I think Kevin Martin's voice is good but the music is lacking.

I'm of the complete opposite opinion (and I'm a fan of Candlebox's original as well), but I think Sean's kick up of the guitar to a more "pop"-ish for lack of a better term really spices up the song. Gracey's following on the drums really helps as well, especially on the fat daddy's boot. The TGF version, though, does seem less angst-y, which may turn off some people but the guitar work, I think, is just a great take on the song. If you have the fat daddy's boot listen to Sean and Gracey pound it out, it rocks. rockin.gif

Far Behind is a great song, which I've always loved. I don't need or necessarily want to hear the exact same version of the song as cd, but I think the new arrangement made the song pretty bad. To me it sounds like a karoake version of the song. Now again, that's just my opinion. I'm sure others will love it and that's great. But this was just my opinion and to me they ruined the song.

Yet another crackhead with no musical sense whatsoever.
