They had special guests from the Dominican Republic joining them for certain songs last night, that is why you had the extra guitar. I actually never knew that Live had such a devout following in the DR. They were singing along to the Beauty of Gray, very cool!

I can't wait for the US tour!

Im gonna be pissed if they come to Pa and Im not a special guest then tongue2.gif

I'd have hoped he'd have included as few live songs as possible if he were truely wanting to go solo. What's the point if you're just gonna keep doing what you would have done anyways. 2-3 live songs you can understand like what tgf are doing.. And even they are going for obscure ones at least. Hopefully it's just cos it's in the DR and they haven't had any live gigs there before

What makes you think tgf will play less Live songs? Because of Martin?

I understand what you are saying, but there seem to be some major problems with Live towards the end so I can see why he wanted to go solo. Why deal with the constant tension even if you want to continue Live? Might as well go solo to continue enjoying what you are doing. Plus, he doesn't even have a solo album out yet, so people who buy tickets to Ed's concerts right now are typically expecting to hear Live songs. So, I dont think there is anything wrong with giving the people what they want.

Hopefully, as his album comes out he focuses more on it than Live songs though.

About the youtube clip, I thought the band sounded pretty good. But it's very odd seeing these songs without all Live members. It's gonna be the same when TGF plays any Live songs also. Its gonna take some time getting used to. IMO, those songs will always sound better with Ed, CT, CG, and Pat. By the way, the crowd in the DR sounded great...probably a great atmosphere.

True, I can see both sides of the argument. And hopefully as time goes on less Live songs appear and more solo songs ... it would certainly make Live's renuion (if there ever is one) a lot more special if both bands were to hold off. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that.

I'm sure as Ed moves on through his solo career he'll play less Live stuff. At moment I think he needs to pull out the Live material to drag in the fans.

Yeah, this makes sense. It's what I would have assumed.

I don't care if they play Live songs. I don't even care if they change the arrangements around a little bit on the songs, especially if it focuses on the strengths of Ed's new band or Kevin Martin's vocals. But I just don't want them to butcher any Live songs that they do play.

Ed just posted a new blog. He played 19 songs including six of his new ones. Here's what he wrote.

Hey all!
WOW! as you can see from my latest tweets, the reaction to the new band was off the charts in the DR! we had a fantastic trip and muchas gracias to all of the wonderful fans that were at the show for making our first one so special and SOLD OUT! we played 6 new songs from my upcoming album as well as most of the classics for a total of 19 songs. The energy onstage was phenomenal and its hard to put into words how exciting and refreshing it was to be playing brand new songs again with such incredible people and musicians. With only one day of rehearsal under our belt, it felt like we had been playing together for years; the chemistry is electrifying. 2010 is gonna rock ya!

Just added some more european dates to our mini tour in May and things are coming together for a much more expanded european tour in august-september. US dates around the record release in early july are forthcoming. Australia, South Africa, and more Latin America touring too...stay tuned!

peace!
ed k

Hearing the one guitarist slamming the whammy bar in the chorus of BOG made me puke up a little

Ed said they played 6 new songs! We know of three Everlasting Love, Grace, and Zion. So what are the other 3? We need a setlist!
