Stumbled across this old interview with Ed I hadn't heard before. It was recording on Dutch radio prior to the release of The Distance To Here. He talks in depth about the writing process, and notably states that they wrote 50 songs for the album and recorded 25 ( omg.gif tongue2.gif ).

http://www.toazted.com/playinterview/318/i...42/Incubus.html

He also mentions how the riff for Where Fishes Go was originally back to front. They played what Chad had written backwards, and then based the song around that (Pearl Jam did something very similar for Binaural's 'Light Years' - because the original demo sounded too much like 'Given To Fly' smile.gif ).

For interest's sake I had a quick go at reversing the riff as it appears on the album to see what it might have originally sounded like. Turns out it's not all that different (and hard to decipher with the backwards drums), maybe a bit more 'conventional' if anything. Anyhoo for those interested:

I wonder if alot of those unrecorded songs were eventually recorded or slightly rewritten for "V"? Maybe Patrick will give us some mote songs locked away sometime in the future!

The WFG lyric was sung as part of I alone reprise in a 1997 SS concert. I remember the 50 song thing....wonder where they all are.

Im gonna have to listen to the boots to identify the show on the WFG lyric

I doubt that. The two albums sound nothing alike.

We know that Deeper was one of the songs, so there are 11 more that were actually recorded to be identified.

I remember when Gracey was hanging it on Ed about the lounge act a few months ago, he referred to Everlasting Love as a "new song", quotation marks and all. I wondered then if large parts of Ed's material may have been rehashed from unreleased older songs; kinda like holding on to Overcome to release on V, for example.

TDTH Outtakes we know of:

Deeper
Still Aroused
New City
Dont Wait
Change
Overcome
Vine Street
Wash The Blood Away

....thats 8 plus the 13 on TDTH for a total of 21. That leaves 29 songs left! I wonder if some of those 50 were the alternate versions of Transmit Your Love, Sun, TSUFL, Face and Ghost, and Sparkle. Even if so that still leaves alot of songs left we have no idea of. If so thats still another 24 left that are unknown.

I do remember Chad Gracey also telling me at a show one time that Call Me A Fool was also written and recorded for TDTH but later rerecorded with more keyboards for V. Thats why I wonder how many other songs on V may have been written for TDTH.

Any other songs I am forgetting about for TDTH?
