Per the discussion in the EK thread....

I just ripped the track from my Montage Mtn Scranton PA bootleg - 8-12-2000, it was an early version played before they released V. More guitar heavy than Railos messes.

I was at this show and they really rocked out to it.

I just gave this a listen and it's not bad. Not radically different, but like you said, heavier on the guitars.

Youre welcome.

Biggest thing with this song and later versions are more Railo overpowering the Chads and more of Ed's falsetto in the lyrics.

The pre-V Deep enough is far less busy than the album version. There are all kinds of echoes and loops in the album version.

I think Ed just liked hearing himself coming from 3 different directions in the final mix. lol.gif

Yep, that's it. That's the one I have. I had a tag that said Chameleon Club but I figured that was wrong. I emailed it to a few people this morning... I should have thought about using the upload site. Anyway... thanks for posting it. It's alot easier than emailing individually to folks.

It seems that from V on, it was very much about Ed. Looking back, and knowing what we know, it's even more clear. Just take Overcome. I still prefer to listen to that crappy bootleg of the band version played way back when during the TDTH days. That was originally a band song. Funny they ended up releasing years later as a one man show and never played it as a band again... at least to my knowledge.

Take a look at this thread. It contains a studio full band version of Overcome that was recorded in 1998.

I think that became a huge problem... when Live started trying to incorporate everyone under the sun in their records (and even during their shows). When they were at their best was it was just the four of them and just their guitars.
