If EK and TGF were only allowed to play THREE Live songs on tour, which three would you want to hear from each ?

Ed:

Merica: Would work well acoustic
Mother Earth is a Vicious crowd: I think he could redo the song very well and bring a crowd into the song with the Talk to me part. Great song for a small stage.
All Over You Ed has a tendency to sing Duets all the time. He could sing this with a female and it would be utterly fantastic. I'm sure it wouldn't sit well with his wife but who cares?

TGF:

What Are We Fighting For: I think this fits in the style of song that Keven would like. Musically, it was boring but I think if they changed some lyrics and the beat a bit it could be a winner. I always thought this song needed more time in the studio.
Pillar of Davidson: Chad sings the background anyway and that is the best part of this song. Here I am locking horns with a stallion...
Vine Street: I have a feeling if this song were elaborated they could really make it great. Make the guitar section longer

So, I was thinking about an earlier post regarding EK and TGF playing Live songs, which made me think of this question....

If EK and TGF were only allowed to play THREE Live songs on tour, which three would you want to hear from each ?

I'd go with...

Eddie
1. Lightning Crashes (just so I can hear it from someone)
2. Pillar of Davidson (because I love this song, and only wanna hear it from Eddie)
3. Gas Hed Goes West (same as above)

TGF
1. Lakini's Juice (to me, the best ROCK song Live ever did)
2. Simple Creed (beacuse I love how CT gets this going on the Paradiso DVD/CD)
3. I Alone (I'd like to hear thier take on this song)

Ed's played this on his solo tour. There's an audio and video recording available to download from Ed's online store. Volume 5 in the bootleg series.

I've always loved that song from Mental Jewelry. From all the shows I've seen, never got to hear that live.

Got to see and hear Ed's solo of it.

I think TGF should play the more rocking songs from Live like:

Lakini's Juice, Iris, Like I Do, White, Discussion, Good Pain, etc....

Ed should play songs like:
Heaven, Lightning Crashes, I Alone, Pillar of Davidson, etc....

just my 2 cents

Like ive said before, i dont think TGF should do any Live songs, not because i dont think they have any right, but the songs just belong with Ed's voice. I made the comparison to The Smiths/Morrissey/Marr. Marr wrote all the music to the songs and has every right Morrissey does to perform the songs live, but the songs just dont work without *that* voice, and I think TGF would be the same. I'd say they should stick to original material as they're the ones harping on about a "new begining" and all this.

As for Ed solo,

I'd love to hear a more mature sounding acoustic version of something from DOAD, 'Who put the fear in here?' possibly. I'd have said Face and Ghost and Supernatural, but the bastard beat me to it .. I'm so thrilled I got to hear those live. So I'll go with

Ed:
* Who put the fear in here?
* Ghost
* TBD

TGF:
* A rocking song that is going to ROCK.
* A song coming soon that I'll tell my friends about that will ROCK.
* A totally rockingness rocksteady rocking song coming soon that'll ROCK, coming soon.

id love to hear ed do a slow accoustic lighthouse. There are times when i think that song would have worked better as a slower song.

the guys should play whatever they want, really.

Here's an old interview clip (Ed & Chad T, circa 1995) which talks about how Live got into the harder sound and Ed's picking up the electric g after only using the acoustic guitar. Really good insight to the origins of Live and how they came from softer sound into harder sound, perhaps why they are doing separate things today. I thought it was interesting. I'll take the Hard Charging Live any day of the week.

"I thought i knew exactly what scared me
And I would never have to run again
So I went to sleep and begain dreaming
Of perfect lives and paradise
Woke up and started screaming"

Is probably better than any lyric written on SFBM though, ironic he was what, 16 or so when he wrote it?
