Just at a guess though..

I'm a fan of the band Sparks and they're doing something really cool which I wish Live could do. They're doing a 21 night run in London where each night they play a different album of theirs completely from start to finish including any b-sides or covers they were doing of that era and then night 21 is their new album's debut. That would be awesome if Live would do something similar in a lead up to their next album, it'd only have to be an 8 night residency at somewhere where they know they'll pull at least a decent crowd.

Damn, that would be really awesome if Live did that. They could probably pull it off at the Chameleon Club or Starland. I would definitely be there.

Oh, as for the setlist. I would not be surprised if there were very few SFBM songs and maybe even none since that pseudo tour is over now. I do expect new songs.

On a somewhat side note, has anyone considered that God Don't Never Change may be a new song? The lyrics are borrowed, but the music is what makes their version of the song kick ass, and the music is theirs. Why not just change the lyrics and keep that song? It'd be vastly superior to anything since TDTH, in my opinion and no matter what that tree monkey Luke thinks. banana.gif

They are sure to play:
Lightning Crashes
I Alone
All Over You
Heaven
Lakini's Juice
The Dolphin's Cry

Likely to play:
They Stood Up for Love
Selling the Drama
I Walk the Line
Run to the Water
White Discussion
The River

I'm not sure if they'll be promoting SFBM any longer. They could still be playing four songs from that album or promote new material in its place. I'd check setlists from 2006 and 2007 to see what other songs Live have been playing the last couple of years in concert.

I wonder if Live will debut new material at the Chameleon Club later this spring. If the band is in fact working on a new album in York this April, it would be perfect sense. Just me thinking out loud....

From the poor quality version of God Don't Ever Change that we have, I'd love to hear that turn up in studio form, it sounded absolutely rockin', I wouldn't mind them taking a more bluesy sort of style for a bit.

I did think of God Don't Ever Change being a new song. Blind Willie Johnson died in 1945, so the song will be up for grabs in 13 years since an artist loses rights to their songs 75 years after they die. If Live decided to change the lyrics, as ex said, or pay royalties, they could take it now.

Weren't they using similar music for their intro during their fall tour?

I hope the River gets dropped for Mystery... Wings is too much to ask for but If they keep Voodoo Lady why not Wings? I saw Voodoo Lady live and was a little disappointed... it was so loud that I couldn't hear anything after "Classy Holy Hooker"

yeah I agree with you all that it would be cool if it became a new song (although they have never put out a cover at one of their previous studioalbums).
But I'm afraid that when it would be actually recorded, it doesn't turn out like everyone hopes. Didn't the same thing happened to early SFBM songs (the 5 that people heard in concert before the album came). The studio songs were less 'rocky' than the concert versions seemed like, and although I think God don't ever change was really cool live (as far as I could hear from recordings), it can turn out to be a dissapointment.

The difference is: on stage all 4... (all right: 5 smile.gif ) do their thing, going out of their minds and are really excited to play their own thing. They can also add things that they like, a little extra guitar solo, changing the bass, diff. drums, etc. In the studio it is Ed that comes up with the song, and the others not having to much inluence, just playing the instruments.

Unless... the new album will get a whole new approach (the "pre-V approach"), and as Ex is expecting, the 4 contributing all to the music (btw Ex: why do you think this ?). I would really like them to do a sort of 'jam' in the studio, just like they do on stage. And well than, God don't ever change can become good in studio version also (not to say: kick ass!! rockin.gif )
