...is what you'd be reading if live decided to call it quits. I honestly think its around the corner. Ed talking down the importance of releasing full studio albums, the atrocious album sales, the general lack of interest even amoungst their own fan community. This is how bands fizzle out. Theyre not gonna make another throwing copper anytime soon. i think we all just face the music and start a money pool

im placing $10 on May 2008

yep, Wambangalang that's completely wrong.
I'm getting tired of always explaining again why there is absolutely no reason to think that live would split up.
No, there won't be a new TC, but no one thinks there will be, so that TC thing is totally irrelavant.

Live's actually more alive than ever. 'lack of interest even amoungst their own fan community'...uhm what??
They used their good old own label (that everyone remembers from the Public Affection days) to connect even more to their fanbase (and to thank them), they did a very long tour this year, without even have to to promote anything. How about that!? And by that: they really liked that.
There is even a lot on the burner, according to Ed: new album, live dvd shooting. Ed stated different times Live could become very experimental again in the future (whatever that may be), and about the thing you say not releasing full albums? that has only to do with music industry anno 2007, and not wit dis-interessent in own music! come on, I have absolutely nothing, hell really NOTHING that makes me believe they will split up in the next ehm, say 5 year.

When a band that had such a dissapointing cd sales last 2 albums, is still so active an fresh and willing to perform, it only means hopefull things for the future. I don't say a future with new TC-ish music, ofcourse not. But there's future for them, believe me.

eh I don't think so .. I never understood the whole "they're not as popular as they are anymore!!" thing to be a reason to break up, there are bands out there who's popularity will never ever reach the height that Live's is right now that have probably been around longer than them or will be, no reason for them to break up if they love what they do. They may start doing their own things some more which means less time for the band, less time to make albums (like they can't spend 2 weeks together, isn't that what it took to make SFBM? ha! ) so maybe that's why EP's will start to feature more.

I'm all for more regular EP's and singles than albums for awhile ... maybe they could really try some different stuff and experiment .. have an EP of really rockin' White Discussion type songs, another of pure ballads, an EP where they ALL contribute more significantly to the writing .. just spice it up.

I'm going with March 2008.

What wambang said about the causes of breakup might not apply here. But I think his point is one cannot honestly conclude what they have doing 'commercially' has resulted in any success. BoP was largely a failure and SFBM was a complete and utter failure.

Everyone is going to jump on us for estimating when the band is 'done' but if you look at all the facts, and not just the fact they tour to get by, it's hard to argue against a imminent breakup.

You don't have to be popular in terms of record sales to be a good and/or profitable band! They continue to sell out 2000-3000 seat venues with little to no promotion and main support acts. Keep on going guys, love the 2 hour sets at the smaller venues these days! People in the US should be thankful they still play here, because by the way they are pretty poular outside the country and I'm sure they get paid better playing the bigger venues.

PS- This topic heading blows tongue.gif

Live has been together for over twenty years now, and the guys grew up together practically. I think it would be a major surprise if they ever officially called it quits.

However, I think the days of regular albums and somewhat regular touring (or at least clustered dates) might have come to a close. I expect they will continue to make new music for quite a while, though, and probably release them via FOL.com or iTunes from time to time. Perhaps they will put out EPs like Ed wants.

As far as the touring, they will probably still play weekend gigs here and there for quite a while, too. It's been a while since I've seen them in my native land (Florida), but I know in Ohio and especially Pennsylvania and New Jersey they still draw great crowds even with heavy touring in the area.

So, I don't think this is the "end" for Live, just a changing period as the transition into a less intense schedule. I personally think these guys will be together until they die.

Well, you shouldn't be writing that something is official if it isn't, especially related to the band breaking up. Its a cheap way to get your thread read.

I had to either change your original posts title or delete the thread. If you rather me edit it out to something else, thats fine.

Lol, imagine a 58 year old Ed singing and trying to jump around on stage tongue.gif Although judging from Keith Richards in the 60s I would have said the same.
