It seems Ed slipped into the VH1.com studios and performed 4 acoustic songs: Heaven, The River, Mystery, and Lightning Crashes. No audience at all, but a very high quality performance. Took a while to load, but was well worth it especially when enhanced to full screen. Enjoy!

Oh my God. The beginning of The River...I felt like I was watching a Raffi concert... uhoh.gif

The rest was good. The setup was a little weird but whatever.

oh god Mystery is embarrassing .. he keeps running out of breath and just can't hit those notes. On the plus side though it looks like he's looking after himself. Good publicity for them though. Heaven and Lightning Crashes sounded not too bad though .. although he did sound like he was meowing during Lightning Crashes..

Darn, can't view it on a Mac. Anyone have the capability to record the stream?

The performance is OK, but whoever said that his voice isn't the best is pretty much right. I guess it just wasn't the best day for him, but it's cool nonetheless.

That's the thing with Ed, I really wish he knew when he was beat. There are some days he just can not hit those high notes and the more he trys the worse it becomes. But of course there are the times when he can hit them perfectly .. I wish he could tell the difference. If he realises he's having an off night then surely he could change things around to get that lower tone back. He obviously likes going for that falsetto as much as possible though.

Thanks for posting that Nick. smile.gif It was nice to see. I played along with my acoustic...as best I could since I don't know The River or Mystery. It seemed easy to learn though while watching. thumbsup.gif

I think the River is probably better than Mystery at least accoustically. Mystery didnt seem to flow too well and the singing was absolutely dreadful.

The video was choppy, anyone else get that? It broke up so much that it was unwatchable.

I watched it in full screen and then it wasn't choppy at all.

It might have to do with your connection speed, because it says that it requires broadband in order to view the files. I really don't know though, considering I can't even access them because I have a Mac. cry.gif

You're really not missing much here, Dan. In fact, you're better off watching it on mute or just viewing images of Ed. He just sounds awful.

I agree, this is not Ed's best performance. sad.gif

In any case, I don't have the equipment to convert the VIDEO stream, but I have copied the audio and converted it to mp3. The links can be found here:

Heaven
The River
Mystery
Lightning Crashes

I'm still pretty novice with this, so I apologize ahead of time if the quality isn't top notch.

Let me know if it works.

I thought Ed sounded very good. He strained a bit on Mystery but I still enjoyed the performance. It has to be weird for him performing without any audience, though.
