Thanks Grizz, you're the best! Unfortunately, I missed today's show, but will tune in next week. My husband and younger son are both Floyd maniacs so I know they will be stoked. My husband saw Roger Waters last year in New York and was thrilled! They've got tickets to "The Australian Pink Floyd Show" for tomorrow night. This show is touted as being really great. They have also seen a few other P.F. tribute bands that have toured in the area. They love 'Several Species', the local favorite, but were hugely disappointed by 'The Machine' which was supposed to be so fabulous, maybe they just caught them on a bad night. Hopefully, tomorrow will turn out better. Are you a big fan?

Thanks,
Sue thumbsup.gif

Thanks, Sue. I graduated from high school in 1967, and that summer my brother bought some new albums. One was 'Pipers at the Gates of Dawn'. When I heard it, I was instantly hooked and thought that when the public caught up with Pink Floyd they would be huge. Turned out I was right, though it took six years until 'Dark Side'.

They have always been my favourite band, and always will be. Even though LiVE and Rush are at the top of my list because they are still productive, nobody will ever be able to really replace The Floyd in my heart. No need to rank the best anyway, eh.

I only saw Pink Floyd twice: the Eclipse Tour in '72 and Pulse in '94, which was the best show I've ever seen. Pink Floyd was always ahead of their time and consistently broke new ground. They have an ancient future quality about them. I've never been to a tribute show, but would love to some time.

My friend, who was first an online acquaintance who moved to this town last year, has a complete collection of everything Pink Floyd ever recorded before DSotM and he's been copying some of it for me.

The radio station, KSKQ, is of a new type of community-based stations that the FCC opened up a few years ago. They don't even have a transmitter yet. This Saturday time slot is open and I might do a show then myself. It would be very eclectic, featuring a whole album in the second hour and a different artist in the second, with a couple of news features. One would be local news and the other would be New World Order news. The program would be titled New World Disorder.

Again, I apologize for not thinking to post about this in advance. I'll find out if this show is archived and let you know. I'll post a reminder next week. It will be at the same time, but US time changes back from Daylight Savings tonight, so there will be a hour difference.

My friend's regular show is on Thursdays, 5-7 pm PST. The Interdimensional Vortex features early psychedelic and prog rock, and it's always great. He has a huge collection of those types of music and almost everything is something most of us have never heard of. Here's his MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/theinterdimensionalvortex

Wow, that sounds great! I would love to hear you on the radio, keep me posted. When I was a teenager (way back when) there was a station here in Baltimore WIYY 98 ROCK (it's still here, but like most stations has changed formats about a million times) that played full album sides or full albums at night, I used to love that. I still call CDs, albums most of the time, hard habit to break. It's nice to have another "older" fan to chat with here.

Nice to know you, LovinLIVE. It always cracks me up when a kid disses Jim Morrison, The Beatles or Led Zeppelin. I've never seen a Gen X person do it, but some of the Gen Y kids do.

True, some of that old stuff sounds quite dated nowadays. They don't understand how fresh and new it was at the time. They don't have the historical context.

One thing that sold me on LiVE with their first album was the influence of The Beatles, Yardbirds, etc that I heard. They instantly went to the top of my list of beloved bands, and have stayed there all these years.

LiVE has always been classified as Alternative, but I see them as a genre all their own.

Thanks Grizz, I know what I'll be doing saturday! Pink Floyd used to be my favourite band until live took over. Live and PF are the only bands I want to own every album instead of just the Mp3s. What kept me hooked was the lyrical quality of both bands plus the fact that they have so many hits. I love how dark pink floyd is too! I kinda dropped my pink floyd collection in favour of live but I am listening to Animals a whole lot these days. Also, Pink floyd panders to my love for incredibly long songs.

Also, I've always wanted talk radio over the internet. I can never find any that wasn't full of ads. If you are an avid listener, I'd like to know some good places on the internet to find them esp liberal outlets or blues stations.

This program was archived, but I don't have the link yet. I'll post it ASAP.

Badman, there's a lot of commercial free political talk programs on kskq.org. I guess there's a schedule on their website somewhere. The station is kind of new and not very well organized yet. I don't want to get too political on this forum, but if you're interested in patriot or truth talk programs, I can point you to some. They have some commercials about survival gear, investments in precious metals, and other apocalyptic stuff, usually only on the half hours, but also interviews with an array of leaders in those movements. They usually have chatrooms attached as well, and you can call in with questions. Quite interesting stuff sometimes. PM me if you're interested.

Sorry I don't post much about LiVE, my friends. I love their music, but quite frankly I'm really not that interested in them on a personal basis and I don't think that Ed is a god. Nor any musicians or other artists.
