I know this is just a cover, but if this in any way represents the style that Live may work with on the next album, I would be fuckin' ecstatic. That song is some good, bluesy rock but it has a distinct "Live" sound at its core. Thanks so much for this video! Awesome

The only thing Ed said he would spend this year with song writing, as he always does (I think).

But this song....whow, I would like to see it at a Live concert myself. It's also cool that they choose something that's not such very known to everyone. I mean Running to stand still, Imagine, All along the Watchtower, all cool songs to cover! But I never heard of this one, so I think it's good they (or Ed) gets inspired by more alternative songs.

Bring it on guys. rockin.gif

Well, I think that I'd just love to see the band read this thread. That song blew me away. That shit is exactly what LIVE needs. Play your instruments and use your god given talent. Let it all hang the fuck out and jam. Step it up on the lyrics and heavier on the instrumentation. GET PAT INVOLVED AGAIN. Lets hear some solos where the whole band just goes at it and feeds off each other.

SFBM and BOP didn't work. SFBM sold what? Not even 50 thousand copies? I understand it wasn't promoted well but that wouldn't have meant much even if it had. People are disheartened that this once thriving ROCK band has resorted to playing 3 minute pop songs with weak guitar work and no bass. That's not the LIVE that the rock fan masses know and love.

I personally know at least 20 people who think TC was one of the best rock records ever made. RAW sounding and anthemic. That music was proud and had something to say, it told a story. It had some great guitar work and spots of lyrical genius.

It has nothing to do with making TC 2. I just want to hear some MUSIC from these guys and not pop music that is structured and predictable. I want to hear some of the soothing sounds of TDTH and some of the rock from TC again. I want to hear well written and heartfelt lyrics of MJ. I want to hear some of the musical experimentation present in SS, some of the bass from PLOTR and TBD. Some of the work from Gracey in songs like White Discussion.

I know that a lot of 90's bands have lost a lot of fans, it's understndable. But LIVE still has a lot of those fans hiding in the closet. Waiting for LIVE to burst out with something that just wings it. They are capable of it, I know they are. You hear some of their extended versions of I Alone in concert for example and the musicianship is pretty fucking good. They've got some of the blues in them and I love that!! I want to hear more of Taylors influence in that regard, mixed with some driving rock.

This bands creativity in creating their cover of I Walk the Line, shows that they still have it to the extreme. They turned that song into something that straight up fucking rocks and turned is the key. The short bursts of instrumentation in that song are genius and could have been moreso had they extended them a bit.

That is my point to this band. Extend yourselves, let your imaginations fly just like you did with this song. Fuck the 3 minute pop songs, it's not working for you..nobody wants to hear them. You tried it, it didn't work, now move on. Although I didn't particularly like it, I admire that you tried that direction. But it's beating a dead horse now. I'm seeing even old school, LONG TIME fans leaving you now. Fans that have stuck by everything you've done. But fact is, the most loyal fan base you have is starting to split and leave.

Bring them back. More importantly, bring back the band that the whole world loved at one point. Bring back the music we adore and bring your music back into relevance. Not to achieve stardom necessarily, but to bring more love into the lives of people that need it. The people whose lives you changed with your music, people who yearn to hear more of it from you guys.

Manufacture your music according to what is deep inside of all of you as talented musicians. Let your soul burn and leave it all on a record. I want the LIVE back that opened my eyes to not only better music, but a brighter and more compassionate way of thinking.

so you know this for sure ?? How? smile.gif

I'mvery happy when it's all right that you're saying yay.gif

btw, the only time (as far as I know) they recorded during touring was for the V-era. Well, not loved by everyone, it was at least something that sounding very enthousiastic, and marked a break up with previous albums. Do it again.

Great post! Those are the exact feelings that I have tried to express over and over on this board and I could not have said it better myself. The fact that they have a "renewed enthusiasm" added to the fact that they next album may be funky, rockin and have all four members contributing is the best news that I could possibly hear when it comes to this band. This cover tune is a perfect example of what I want to hear them do and what I knew they were capable of. I want more god dammit!!!!!!!!
