I saw the Allman Bros two nights ago with my friend who had the presale nightmare with Ticketmaster. After that disaster, they gave him even better seats than he had in the first place! He originally had row 20 on the floor, but ended up with first row seats in the first balcony. There was NOOOOOOOOOTHING in the way of the sound. It just flew up at us!

I didn't recognize any songs lol except a few covers they pulled out. First was The Sky Is Crying (SRV). I didn't know they played that!!!! Even my friend was surprised. I was crying during the whole song. Derek Trucks plays out of Diaz amps (which is what Taylor used to play until the Diaz guy died. Now he keeps the amps in the studio) Diaz was the last name of the guy who built the amps. He designed them when he was SRV's guitar tech. He designed them FOR SRV!!!!! After SRV was killed, this guy started selling the amps. So there I was, no sound obstruction, listening to live SRV thru his amps ... water literally poured out of my face. I wasn't crying like waaaaaaaa *sniff*sniff*, it was more like I was cutting onions (without the smell). I was absolutely stunned. I sat totally still, didn't move, didn't breathe, and had water pouring out of my eyes. THEN maybe 3 songs later (an hour!!! lol) they bust out Manic Depression. With 2 drummers & a percussionist!!!! Holy shit!!!!!!!! Then later again, Derek Trucks wife came out (Susan Tedesci). She sang, "Take a load off Annie. Take a load off your feet. Take a load off Annie. annnnd Annnnd AANNNDDDDDD you put the load right on meeeeeee" ... whatever that song is. I think it's The Band. ??? That was about 10 minutes lol and pretty cool. But I really don't remember anything other than the SRV & Hendrix. Holy crap. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!

Haha! Janice that's funny. But I totally understand why you only remembered those things. I didn't know they did a cover of SRV either and I've heard a ton of Allman Brother's bootlegs. I really like the Allman Brothers Band and almost went to see them last Summer, they just weren't playing close enough to me. I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Would you go see them again if given the chance?

Oh and that take a load of Annie song is by the band and it's titled The Weight.

I saw them once about 10 years ago. They're not big on playing to the crowd but they had chairs & standing room ON the stage for friends, family & a few radio contest winners. And they allow recording, so there were a ton of people with super-duper mics & DAT systems on the balcony by us.

They play 15 shows at The Beacon Theater in NYC every March. My friend who had the tickets is CRAZY about them. He=Allmans as Janice=Live.

We've had this ongoing contest for about 10 years ... who is going to see their band more. When we started it, the score was something like: him-22, me-15. Now he's at 43 (#44 is in a few weeks). I'm at 41 (#42, 43 & 44 will be April-June). But he says I cheat. I travel. tongue.gif

I have a friend that is the same way, ABB obsessed. It is so funny how similar we are as far as following around a band that we have loved for years. I think he has me beat on the number of shows though but not by much. Plus he hasn't seen them in a few years because he got pissed that they kicked Dickey Betts out of the band.

Have you ever heard any of the Derek Truck's Band's stuff? It's pretty good.
