If I was in a band touring like Live then yeah no doubt I would try reap some of the benefits and get myself some cool things, but I would be prentious enough to start asking for "soft toilet paper", the colour of my towels etc.. and requiring chewing gum .. I mean can't they get this stuff on their own anymore?
This isn't just ripping on Live because I know the majority of bands that tour the world are like this.

That tour rider is really old. Back from the SS-era. I'm sure they're a little less demanding now a days as most venues they play don't have the ability or resources to get a lot of what they ask for.

True about the venue thing, but they also said that the families travel along sometimes as well so you can imagine it being an extra 4 pages long if that's the case. It comes from TDTH era, 1999 as stated on the bottom right of the pages.

I suppose the flip side to all this is that as demanding as they are they would have to pay for all of that too. It's just the specificness of the whole thing that comes across badly I guess.

I've seen riders for Rush as well. They are similar. A band and it's crew are excessively busy on tour. They need to have what they need all ready for them. It's just part of the business.

But how can they not have time to get chewing gum?

I've always heard this story about why there are odd items on these lists:

"re: the Green M&M thing. It came fom a contract rider for Van Halen, and they put it there so they would know that the booker had read the contract, because they had stage requirements and other things, and had almost been seriously injured when a stage collapsed because it hadn't been built according to contract. So by doing the m&ms thing, they could tell when they got to the gig if the contract had been read or not. "

Ahh, to be a rock star. Must be nice.

My list would just include:

Excellent bottles of both red and white wine (Lots)
Cases of Sam Adams and Yuengling (Lots)
Large HDTV during the nights the Flyers, Eagles or Phillies play
Hot, hot women in and around the dressing room(s) and hotel

Thank you.

well, this to me makes more sense to me, as i HATE scented deodorant, it still works, but without a penetrating perfume, i guess it's the same with un-scented air freshners shrug.gif
But now u get another contradiction, as they want un-scented air freshners, but the DO want their carpet to smell nice.....hmmm, is it me?
