I am so in love with him. He's awsome. So much talent. And his sidekick Lisa's voice just blends so perfectly with his. And he's such a hottie eyebrow.gif I downloaded his songs but will def be buying his 2 albums. I just love Irish singers. They give me what I love: jangly guitars and lots lots of yodelling. banana.gif

Anyone else a fan?

Yep. I bought 'O' a few weeks after it was first released (he was basically unknown at that point) and have been hooked ever since. My favorites from that album are "Amie," "The Blower's Daughter" and "Delicate."

'9' is also a solid album; it has really grown on me the more I have listened to it. "9 Crimes" and "Sleep Don't Weep" are brilliant.

I finally got the chance to see him live this past summer, when he opened for Fiona Apple. He is a very engaging and talented live performer, although he played a lot of his new songs (his album had not yet been released), so I wasn't able to connect with some of the songs. Still, I would definitely recommend him as a live act.

Which reminds me, he also has a very solid live album called 'Live from the Union Chapel' that you should look into getting. It has 8 live tracks featuring songs from 'O,' plus a couple tracks that aren't on any album. Lisa has I believe 3 solos on here as well, so she is really highlighted. The bad news is that it's going to set you back a pretty penny; I got my copy for 99 cents on eBay about a year and a half ago, but now if you look on there you'll be paying at least $60 for the full CD (there are some 5-track sample versions that are cheaper, but obviously cut out some of the songs). Anyhow, I'm sure you could download the tracks somewhere for much cheaper, or I could burn you a copy if you wanted me to.

I love 'O'. Amie is my favourite song.. beautiful. I like 9, though I've only listened to a downloaded version a couple of times. Keep meaning to buy it...

I didn't know about the live album... I might download it.

I like him too. I only have O so far but I want to buy 9 as well. He is a very talented guy that is for sure. So much emotion.

Sort of a fan - I can't listen to too much in one sitting or I get the urge to stick my head in the gas oven and switch it in. lol.gif This comes from the girl who loves Jeff Buckley, Jimmy Gnecco and nearly wet herself in excitement when Dave McPherson from InMe did an EP because I always knew he had it in him to be a depressing bastard with an acoustic guitar.

I digress - Cannonball's probably my favourite. "There's still a little bit of your song... in my ear" *dies* Ahhhhhh!

Lively Chick, if you've got a penchant for Irish yodellers, you probably need to check the song Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys out. You might also like Snow Patrol - I find them a bit boring after a bit but the lead singer is a bit tasty so that makes up for it.

I enjoy him. I actually got my mother one of his albums (I forget which one) for Christmas, it's sort of a hit or miss as to whether she'll like him, but normally voices like that of Rice get on her nerves...I usually can't listen to Damien Rice in more than small quantities at a time either, but it's definitely cool sometimes.

Thanks for the tip. I'll go look them up right now.
EDIT: Sorry, I don't like his voice or the song. How do I explain? His voice does not have that infinite sadness that Jimmy Gnecco or Damien Rice's has. That forlornly sound.

I find them dreadfully boring. He's a little too limited, vocally, for my tastes.

Ohhh - you don't just want random Irish yodellers, then? lol.gif To be honest, those two were rather random. They were the only two Irish acts I could think of besides U2. I do love that Fisherman's Blues song though!

This one could go either way with you - you'll either love him (I'd be very surprised) or hate him (more than likely). Infinite sadness and a forlorn quality - I definitely think so. He sounds nothing like anybody else I've ever heard to be honest, but there's just something about even the way he breathes in the songs that I find really emotive. He's one of a handful of vocalists that can send shivers up my spine with just a sigh or a whisper.

http://www.myspace.com/inmeofficial - track 3, Glass White Flag. The other two are very rough demos (midi drums, fake bass) of InMe's new stuff for the album they're about to record (Dave's the lead singer). His solo demo EP was the musical highlight of my year. And yes, I absolutely fucking love InMe as well. I saw them in October and they even kicked Live's arse for the best gig I've been to in my life - I never thought that was going to happen.

If Dave's vocals irritate the hell out of you, just remember I was right about Jimmy Gnecco, sista! wink.gif (I've just helped to converted somebody on the VAST message board to Ours)

Both Damien Rice and the "back-up vocalist" have awesome voices.
I loved his first album. It had some really great songs: Cannonball, Amie, Delicate (absolute fav), The blowers daughter, I remember (I just love how that song builds up).

"I remember it well the first time that I saw your head 'round the door, 'cause mine stopped working"

I don't think that 9 is quite as good. It's a solid album though, that's for sure. Sleep don't weep, 9 crimes (does anyone else feel like singing "What if god was one of us ... " when the intro plays? smile.gif) and Elephant - a b s o l u t e l y THE best song on 9. Damn. I too want to write a song where I can scream "HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORNY!" tongue.gif

Edit: Oups, forgot about Cheers darlin´ from the first album. I love how bitter that song is smile.gif "Cheers darlin´. Here's to you and your ... loverboy"
