So, here I am at work in the middle of the night. I am bored stiff, so I decided to do some searching at YouTube. I just watched 2 videos (thank you Omahaangel!!) and my love for Ed and the whole band just came back 10 fold. Of course, the love for Ed is the 'forbidden' variety blush.gif lol.gif

I watched Lakini's Juice from the '97 tour in DC and a cool one of them recording the 'Walk the Line' cover that has a quick interview. See it here -Cool Walk the Line Cover

I just really miss that exuberance, the passion that they used to perform with. Well, I guess it's really Ed I'm talking about here. The rest of the boys still play with a lot of heart. But remember when Ed was just SO out there and into the music he looked like he was in a trance?

Now I'm in a trance tongue2.gif

Just thought I'd share smile.gif

I love those moments where all of a sudden you realise (again) why you love the band so much and cherish their music...!

Great when that happens isn't it - I've just had one of those moments with John Frusciante. found a vid I forgot I had of him doing a cover of New Dawn Fades by Joy Division. Loooovely!

Actually, I've just this second fell in love with Ed again... A Growing Voice - that duet with Adam is one of the most passionate, heartfelt things I've heard out of Ed in the last 5 years.

Kymra,

That is so great!

Thank you so much for tipping me off to the presence of old live concert footage on youtube. I don't know why, but I never thought to look for that and HOLY CRAP, that stuff on there is a freaking gold mine. I just watched them play Negation in a little club when the band looked all of about 20 years old and those performances of Mirror Song and Pain Lies on the Dennis Miller show are absolute magic! So young and so full of passion and angst and rebellion. The way that Ed changed up the lyrics to Mirror Song was very insightful into the lyrics. Pat could really work that bass on so many of those early clips! And I love the early Chad Gracey drums! I could sit and watch that all day. I don't care what anybody around here says, I love the stuff they do now, especially songs like Love Shines and Wings, although it doesn't pick me up and move me (actually throw me) from where I stand like the old stuff did. But the stuff that Live did from 1990 to 2000 stands alone as something that truly amazes and inspires my spirit and for those performances alone they will forever be my all time favorite band. Those guitar riffs and drum beats and heartfealt, screamed lyrics about my soul, and blasphemous teachers and finding the truth are all so powerfully amazing. It's like Ed was screaming and searching and expressing it for everyone else watching who has those same feelings and searching for the same things. I am one of those people who shares that common search and struggle with finding truth and early Live is a vehicle that helps carry that struggle and search toward the path to self discovery and spiritual discovery.

I know I got a bit deep there, but that just sort of spilled out of me in the moment.

Honestly, with all these negative comments around here lately, I've been trying to post something that could somehow explain what Live's music does to me, even the new stuff, but I couldn't quite capture it in english. But that post of yours completely covers it! So (in a way) thanks alot for helping me out! smile.gif

I started thinking that I was the only person around who still loves Live.
Great to know I'm not.

OH....my....god!!!!! That is probably what I love about LIVE the most!! Ed is so passionate about what he writes and when he delivers it whether in song or film clip he just gives it his all!! You can tell he means what he sings!! The fact that he is just so gorgeous is a bonus!! wink.gif
