AWESOME show last night - my first full-band since 2006. Shame there weren't any new songs but everything they did play they did with a passion and sense of fun I hadn't seen since in person since the TDTH tour.

Some quick tidbits:

- The second drummer was far from superfluous, adding some great percussion bits without overdoing it (what's the story with him still being there btw? Is CG still in recovery from his injury?)
- Typically sedated Sydney crowd, moshpit was into it but most people stayed seated until Lakini's Juice.
- Lakini's Juice went off! CT went over to the microphone afterwards and said 'fuck yeah' is a hoarse voice afterwards lol.gif
- Not sure if this happens every show but White, Discussion got restarted twice - they just didn't want to stop rocking that outro!
- I agree with what Voodoo_Lady said in the '24 hours...' thread - they really should ditch 'I Am The Highway' in favour of something new or rare - it's getting a bit tired and I think it actually undermines the tribute to just keep on playing it almost a year later.
- ICC is a really great venue, amphitheatre-shaped and quite intimate for an arena - infinitely better than the old Entertainment Centre.
- The Tea Party were good but the sound wasn't - too loud with muffled bass spoiling any guitar melodies.

No new material? Booooooooring.

That was the best rendition of All Over You I've seen in a long time. No hokey smiles from Ed. Gave the lyrics the weight they deserve.

I just paid more attention to the songs in the encore. All on the lighter side.
They need to go out with a bang!

White Discussion a much better closer than Lightning Crashes

Lightning Crashes got a much better reaction than White Discussion during the 2017 tour. And in the summer, as a co-headline, Lighting Crashes will be the much better closer and get the much more passionate reaction from the audience.

I’m still sorta bummed that they are co-headlining. They are relevant enough to tour on their own.

But what I really want to respond to is, been a fan since ‘92, and White Discussion would get the more passionate reaction from me. White Discussion should always be the closer, no questions asked. I’m sick to death of Lightning Crashes. It gets the “passionate reaction” that you are imagining from the majority of casual/radio-hit-knowing fans in the audience.

I definitely agree with all of that. Lightning Crashes is for the casual fan
