Per Rolling Stone:

Gene Simmons Announces $2,000 Box Set, 'The Vault'
Extensive package includes over 150 unreleased solo songs

Gene Simmons singer announces 'Gene Simmons Vault Experience,' which will include a hand-delivery from Simmons himself

By Joyce Chen

Gene Simmons announced The Vault, a comprehensive, ridiculously-packaged box set of his solo material that arrives in a literal 38-pound safe. The sticker price for the set is $2,000 and includes 150 unreleased

The Vault also has 10 discs of solo material, a leather-bound photo book, a Gene Simmons action figure (without Kiss regalia), an "In Gene We Trust" gold medallion and a "surprise item," per Pitchfork.

For a small additional fee $50,000 Simmons will personally make the delivery to your home, which he is calling "the Gene Simmons Vault Home Experience." For half the price at $25,000, fans can purchase the "Producer Experience," in which they are given exclusive studio time with Simmons in addition to access to more unreleased recordings.

Some guy's comment on Blabbermouth's article about this is GOLDEN. And I quote,
"$50,000 for 2 hours with Gene makes him the ugliest and most expensive escort in history."

It's unbelievable.

Interesting that nobody else had a reaction to share.

I think the huge amount is done for publicity. I don't think he expects many people to actually fork out the 50K (but I'm sure that some super fan or somebody with too much money will do it [probably for the publicity as well])

$2,000 for 150 unreleased songs + the vault might be reasonable if you're a big Kiss/Gene Simmons fan. No doubt the tracks will eventually make their way online so you'll be able to purchase it for a lesser amount if you just want the digital edition.

-----------------

Metallica recently re-issued their 'Master of Puppets" album and it puts Live's Mental Jewelry to shame.

Here is the unboxing video. $174 is great value.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhZWUD6hEj4

"Limited edition deluxe numbered box set of Master of Puppets including three vinyl records (with a MP3 Download Card), ten CDs, two DVDs, one cassette, a hardcover book including never-before-seen photos, a folder containing handwritten lyrics, a set of six buttons and a "Damage, Inc." lithograph."

Compare that to Live's Mental Jewelry 'deluxe' pack where for $60 you get 1 LP, 2 CDs and a cassette . You've gotta be kidding me! surrender.gif

Damn lucky Metallica fans. We all would fork over $174 in a heartbeat for something similar from Live. One could say because they (and Kiss for that matter) have a bigger fan base to do something like that, so more money put into it means a bigger profit for them. Whereas Live just doesn't have the fan-base. Not true. Take the Winery Dogs for example... not a well known band at all (Richie Kotzen, Mike Portnoy, Billy Sheehan) and they had a better deluxe edition of their debut album. It had demos, DVD of videos and interviews and cool merchandise.

While I was excited about the Mental Jewelry rerelease (I'm excited and thankful for -anything- from Live), you're right Dangum, it pales in comparison. sad.gif

This whole past year from Live, from not releasing/or performing new songs, down to their touring and set lists decisions, has been a huge let down. I need a gif right here of blowing up a balloon, letting it go, it deflates and falls to the ground. lol

Yes, I've voiced my opinion of this in here more than once and I get put in my place right quick that they are doing everything just fine, making the right decision working at a snail's pace, etc. But I stand my ground. Since last October when it was verified that Ed was back, it's been one yawn-of-a-year.

But I love 'em so much, so I stick around. Here's to hoping they're going to knock our socks off in 2018 and put out a top of the line something for TC's anniversary. White flag here too. surrender.gif

Here's to hoping the TC remaster will be way bigger than MJ.
