Universal Orlando set concert lineup for 2020 Mardi Gras

Universal Orlando has announced an expanded live music lineup for the 2020 edition of Mardi Gras.

The event will run nightly at Universal Studios Florida from Feb. 1 through April. The concert lineup on the Music Plaza Stage will include:

Feb. 1: The Roots
Feb. 8: Karol G
Feb. 15: Bell Biv DeVoe
Feb. 16: Live
Feb. 22: Kool & the Gang
Feb. 29: TLC
March 7: REO Speedwagon
March 8: Dustin Lynch
March 13: Luis Fonsi
March 14: The All-American Rejects
March 15: Diana Ross
March 20: Chris Young
March 21: Earth, Wind & Fire
March 22: Marshmello
March 28: Why Donít We
March 29: Gavin DeGraw

All the bands will begin their sets at 8:30 p.m.

Several of the bands are returning guests to Mardi Gras; Earth, Wind, & Fire, All-American Rejects, and Kool & the Gang all played during the 2017 event, while REO Speedwagon graced the stage in 2016 and Gavin DeGraw performed last year.

In total, the event will include 16 concert dates ó three more than the 2019 event. All of the concerts are included with regular admission to Universal Studios Florida.

Universal is adding a few new touches to the New Orleans-themed extravaganza, which is celebrating its 25th year. The nightly parade will feature six new floats under the theme ďTreasures of the Deep,Ē taking inspiration from mythical undersea creatures and the lost city of Atlantis.

New food options will also be available. Along with the usual Cajun favorites like gumbo and jambalaya, the event is adding a new Carnival Around the Universe tasting tent, with a menu that will expand throughout the event.

Also returning is the Bayou Boil, which debuted last year. This add-on experience includes an all-you-can-eat spread of Louisiana specialties, as well as special viewing area for the Mardi Gras parade.

No tickets, the concerts are included with park admission for the day. We're actually going to Florida that weekend to go to Disney and Universal. We were going to Universal on the 17th but it looks like we're flipping it with a Disney day and going on the 16th now. Basically a free concert at the end of the day.

This is actually pretty cool. Lucky you! Please report back with your review and setlist (not expecting much for setlist in this situation, as the hits are to be expected, but still, let us know). Have fun, Hoodstock.

All the Universal shows have a 45 minute set list. The shows are scheduled from 8:30 - 9:15. Currently looks like rain during the show.

I can post more later but it's the same show. Still the TC 25 tour.

I know I said I wasnít expecting much for the setlist, but damn. The exact same thing, down to the two covers?!?!?! This band.... this band... sucks.
There. I said it. As painful as it is.

There, fixed it for them. The should-have-been setlist. They still couldíve been lazy with this one, and weíd all have hope for the future. All they needed to do was practice Hold Me Up, so they still could have been lazy. Itíd been a win-win.

Thanks, we had a good time at the park. The show was a bonus. We stopped in the area for a break about 4 hours prior to the show and there were a few people already camping out to be in front. I showed up about 10 minutes before and was able to get a great spot.

It was pretty obvious to anyone who knows that this set was a continuation of last years 25th AnniversaryTour for TC right from the start. Ed said a few songs in they were continuing the celebration of TC. So, if you are planning to catch them this year you know exactly what to expect.

As for the show, the rain broke, they sounded fine, and people seemed happy. The crowd thinned as the show went on. Heaven and Turn My Head were acoustic. They played the same two covers despite a short set. Ed said a few times that this was the first show of this year, the first show of this decade, and asked a few times how everyone was feeling. He was a little pitchy at times. The highlight, IMO, was the extended drum solo / jam during WD. They were scheduled to play from 8:30 - 9:15 but actually stayed on until 9:45. Really not sure what else to say.

If I had paid to for this as a concert I'd have been pissed, but we happened to be at the park anyway so it was a nice to catch them in the same spot. If they come on tour this summer I have no plans to go without significant changes.

Yes, this is the should have been set. They don't have the chops to play Hold Me Up and prefer to put their fans to sleep with Losing My Religion.

I have to say that the lack of engagement on this thread about the first concert of the year really speaks volumes. The discontent with the setlist and live show has turned to apathy, which is really sad.

I agree. I miss how busy this board was when we were anticipating the reunion... then how excited (or not) we were about the reunion.... to... now. Itís dead in here, and your post Hoodstock, is the absolute reason why.

Even the band themselves, on social media outlets, do not engage with fans like other bands do. I know yíall have noticed that, right? The little they do post, itís like from bots. Everything from Līve, and Live themselves, are so boring right now. It makes me super sad, too. They were once so great, and a huge part of my world. Itís a true loss.

I couldn't agree more. It is tough to be enthusiastic when the band is putting no effort or enthusiasm into their product. I don't think i could've imagined a bigger let-down in this reunion (setlist, venues, lack of artistic vision). Can't believe how great they used to be.

I really enjoyed the show. Loved that Dolphin's Cry was back and they included Operation Spirit. My son had a blast and it was a great night.

Looking forward to Wednesday and Thursday

Glad you're enjoying it. The actual performance wasn't bad. I can't complain about their performance of the songs they chose but you and I both know they can do a much better show.

The disappointment is not properly honoring TC during the 25th anniversary show, throwing in two covers during a short festival set, refusing to play any of the newest material released, refusing to play the newest single which was anticipated for years, refusing to throw in any deeper cuts or listen to what fans want to hear, refusing to have any type of setlist rotation on a regular basis even for one spot in the set, being lazy and trotting out the same tour from last summer for this year.

I don't feel like fixing this is asking too much.

I don't understand how you can be so eager to travel and pay to see basically the same underwhelming show over and over when it's not even close to the best they could put together. At this point I'd even be happy if they just dropped the covers.

I don’t understand either.
I’ve been a Līve fan since 1992. I was not able to ever see them in concert until the summer of 2018, 26 years waiting. While it wasn’t what I know I missed out on in the 1990’s, I had an awesome first experience seeing them. So 2019, I bought a ticket to travel 8 hours to see them again. Because it was an exact carbon copy, plus two dreadful covers, it literally felt like A KICK TO THE GUT. I could tell they (except for Chad T.) were just going through the motions. I could have seen them again two more times after that, close to home, and I passed of course. They will not get a dime more of my money until they get their shit together and honor and appreciate long time fans.
SJN is kidding himself. He gets more perks than we do, and dare he say anything negative to lose what he’s getting. I would never sell myself out like that. And I will always LOVE this band in abundance. However, I will always be honest as to their shortcomings.

For what itís worth Iím glad posters still attend & put up vids, they have lost their creativity but itís enjoyable to watch & I still look forward to seeing them in April!

Ed sounds better now than last year too so hopefully their Australian tour will be a good one - I donít think the masses here will be worried about the generic set as we see them so rarely anyway!
