I got most of the show on my iPhone. Being an outdoor, open air venue, the sound is so-so. We had lawn seats, probably left-center of the stage (in between the stacks). Anyways, I’ve just acquired a new free program called Audacity (where I can cut, distort, change bass and treb, etc.) and I plan to convert the stuff to audio and “remaster it”. If people want, I’ll share a mediafire link when it’s done. hi.gif

I’m aware it’s not new, but more-so new to me. It’s amazing what you can do with that program. Especially, the cutting up of original sound files. I came across it earlier this summer and it’s been an addictive tool.

As an aside, I filmed in the really bass-heavy United Center (Chicago) at a Smashing Pumpkins show in August ... and the original audio suffered from the blurry bass and muddied loudness. After I tweaked, it was amazing how clear of a listen it became. I was able to bury the bass, alter treb and raise the volume to bring the singing and drumming forward.

If no one wants this, it’s cool too. Just throwing it out there.

Definitely put a new recording out there!

OK, to recap ..

This past Saturday, 9-8-18, in Tinley Park IL (the Chicago area show) I captured nine of the 13 songs played as iphone videos. Then, I took files and converted them into audio. I would've got the whole show, but I was with my wife (I got into the band the Spring we met, listening to Throwing Copper for months on repeat with her. Also, we walked out to 'All Over You' at our wedding reception in 2016) ... so, I took a few breaks to enjoy her company and of course -- to enjoy the guys!

To clarify, this folder of 13 mp3s (I split the opening from All Over You into a different track, and there's three partial speeches I picked up) is not perfect. It's not lossless, it's not converted over into a high bit-rate, and it is definitely an audience recording -- filmed from the lawn, at an open-air venue (i.e. expect minor background talking, gusts of wind, and the sound is a little muddy). I did take the time, however, to run it through Audacity on my computer, and was able to weigh down the bass, slightly alter treb and to give the volume a good spike -- before it was pretty muddy and the bass overtook the clarity in the sound -- which made this a lot cleaner. That night bass was high in parts and Ed's mic also got pitchy at points, I'm not quite sure if there was a technical glitch at the Hollywood Casino Venue (or at least the speakers facing the middle of the lawn). Case in point, my wife felt the bass, then, blurred out during Lakini's Juice.

The image that pops up, is actually a print-screen on my phone of one of the videos. I cropped the part I wanted, and then chose a black-and-white filter to give it a cool look.

Here's the setlist (AGAIN) from Saturday, (*) denotes songs not included on the digital album.

1. All Over You
2. Love Lounge
3. Pain Lies on the Riverside
4. The Dolphin's Cry
5. Selling the Drama
6. Baby What You Want Me to Do (Jimmy Reed cover) (*)
7. The Distance (*)
8. I Alone
9. Lakini's Juice (*)
10. White, Discussion
--Encore--
11. Heaven
12. Turn My Head (*)
13. Lightning Crashes

As a curiosity, there was a blues-type harmonica player that pitched in on Baby What You Want Me To Do, The Distance and Lightning Crashes -- but I couldn't clearly make out his name. He comes in around the 3-minute-mark on the recording of Lightning Crashes. He was there as part of this 'Memphis inspiration' (he flew in from there) Ed spoke of in regards to the Jimmy Reed Cover -- from a recent trip the guys made to that city and work done there.

Also, I missed the first word or two of I Alone, my trigger finger wasn't quick enough 😉.

You can tell for a Fall-atmosphere with cooling temperatures and the Chicago-esq wind, that the energy was still pretty strong from the band (especially during Love Lounge). The audience was a mixed bag of either +LIVE+ or Counting Crows fans. There were tons in attendance, though wearing vintage LIVE gear.

Here's a mediafire link to the show (again, this is far from perfect and isn't as strong as much of the other content on this page ... but I figured better to share something than nothing at all) :::::: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/9xthdrfq08...llywood_Casino)

Enjoy! kicking.gif
