That's a Japanese release. Most albums released in Japan have that strip of paper along the left hand side - it's called an OBI strip.
Those lines you see over the cover - I don't think is part of the artwork. It looks like the plastic wrap around the cover is reflecting while a photo or scan is being taken. You can see the secret samadhi mask in the background.

Aaah, Dan, I think you are right about the stripes, can't see it clearly enough on this laptop I am using..., I knew that it is a Japanese release, but I have learned something, as I did not know that they call it an OBI strip. tongue.gif

BTW, is anyone familiar with more SS Outtakes other than Photograph & Mallrat?

Is Cheetah also an SS Outtake?

Cheetah was written before the TC tour. In fact they played it in Hershey in 1995.

another email from Frank. he says:

The final version of the package kept most of my design -- except the cover which added the face was created by another designer. I didn’t find out about the cover art/design change until the CD was released, and was never told who created the face art.

and that's all he's got. so I told him thank you and he's awesome and that's where we are. I guess I will have to bark up another tree...

Cheetah was written after TC was released - so yes it would be considered a SS outtake.

I saw them perform it on 9/3/95 at Pine Knob. Before the band performed the song Ed said it was a rough version of a new song they were working on for their upcoming album (which eventually became SS).

It rocked in concert and after listening to the SS album the night it came out I remember feeling really let down that Cheetah wasn't on the album.

Uh ... TC was released on 4/19/94. All the TC songs were written and recorded well before 1995.

I emailed Tim Stedman. I have not yet tracked down the Todd person. its Easter weekend so I'm not sure I expect Tim to check his work email. ill keep you posted.

and as for outtakes - I remember searching TDTH for Vine Street (they played it at the Chameleon) and being sorely disappointed. I get how it didn't fit, though.

Uh, I'm aware when TC was released. The song was written before their large stadium tour in the US. They likely wrote it during the time they were touring colleges in 1994 and early 1995.

thanks Wildman. I'll let you know if I hear from either of them.

Hi Jess,

It was a custom design done by an illustrator friend of mine. It was inspired
and derived from several ancient cultures. The real secret is that there are two
faces in the mask, one right side up and one upside down. wink.gif
Cheers,

todd gallopo
sent from my iPad thingy

I replied, thanking him greatly for responding, and telling him there's a bunch of us geeks who know all about the two faces... and any more backstory or information would be appreciated and drooled over, and thank you again for replying. So there it is kids.
