I bought it and listened to it last night. After TGF, I have come to love Kevin's voice. He could sing the alphabet and I would listen to it. And after his most gracious performance and commentary at the Strand show on March 12th, I became a huge fan of him as a person.

I like this album. But I can't help but compare it to TGF. What does it say if I clearly like every song on TGF better and I hear a huge difference between those two albums? To me, TGF is just far and away better in every respect. I am thinking that it says that I like CCP and Memphis better as artists than the members of Candlebox. If I stated my opinion as fact, then I think I would be saying that they are indeed better. I wonder what Kevin thinks about the quality fo this album verses TGF. There are some great songs on this album, but there are some songs that seem formulaic to me and are just going through the motions musically. And the drums compared to Gracey are ho hum.

First spin right now. Not a huge fan of their recent stuff, but I feel the need to support the extended family of Live. From what I've been reading in this thread I'm sure I'll dig it.

I am not busting on Candlebox, but I have to say that the first time I saw the Youtube promo Lyric Video for Believe In It , and then when I listen to Believe In It on the album, there is a lyric that keeps bugging me and makes me chuckle. It is this:

"There's one thing in this world you need son, it's love and patience."

Uhh. Those are two things. Why didn't he just sing "Two things in this world you need son, they're love and patience."

Every time I hear that it drives me nuts.

Just consider love and patience as a pair, thus making them one thing. A pair. Like me saying "The one thing I need to win this poker hand is pocket aces!"

That is the best I can do.

Agree with you fish, I love 99% of TGF album, so far 50% of CB's new one but that is a good success rate for me. Good enough to buy it IF I COULD IN AUSTRALIA!!

KM is a funny guy, I'm sure he'll come up with something to greet Ed! Would love to be a fly on the wall! And I'm sure Ed will be a gutless wonder and avoid him at all costs.

You can bet Ed would avoid him, I bet KM would seek him out to simply to say hello and give a hello from CC&P too

Ed would react like he did at Mt Airy with Thrill.

A post from Candlebox via Facebook:

Candlebox
Last week we sat down with The Huffington Post and performed a 3 song acoustic set-check it all out here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jon-chattman..._b_1408486.html

I only can find 2 songs and an interview, but I am not complaining the accoustic versions are grand! happy.gif

New album debuts #82 on Billboard with well under 10,000 copies sold. It just doesn't pay to release albums anymore unless you are a megastar with label backing(sad).

Scott and Pete in Candlebox are absolutely ridiculous musicians. Playing-wise, they are just bonkers and listening to their work blows my mind. Unfortunately, Candlebox has gone in a more pop direction that really doesn't take advantage of what they can bring to the table. Scott and Pete's other band Lotus Crush did kind of the same thing, so maybe that's just where they are at right now.

It says a lot that the drums are ho-hum on this record (they are), because Scott, technically, is a far better drummer than Gracey (just like Pete with well, most anyone, on the guitar). What they've lost along the way is their uniqueness. Live lost it too, so hearing this album for me is like hearing BOP for the first time. I can see where some people would like it, but for me it has none of the parts of Candlebox that I love.
