Rearview mirror. I actually think I'm more excited to hear a new Live album more them the rare b-sides and church box sessions. Never thought that would be possible...

Come on people... make some actual predictions like I did. I went out on a limb to predict exactly what I expected. Don't just say "It will be good". How good? Commercially good or what? How many songs on the album? Will pat finally get his backup dancers he has been begging for since BoP???

Well that's it. If they're not coming to Australia then I'm not interested.

Hey Nick - need a new freind?

I agree. I hope for a 13th song - like Horse on TC - something completely different... not exactly like Horse was, I mean, but what Horse was to TC. Certainly CS is capable of something with a completely different pace and feel.

I would also love an instrumental. Incubus does that. just a one or two minute something amazing. There's no reason CCP can't just shine for a minute or two. They are, after all, wonderful smile.gif

I expect the guys know how important Australia is - and I know Live had a big enough following in Australia that it would be worth it to make the trip. i would suspect that after some touring here and in Europe, Aus would be on the list.

I'd love it if they had enough commercial success (somewhere, I don't care where) to have a legit bona fide world tour (Aus, Europe, South Africa (it's been forever since they've been there, right)) and then they have no choice but to play 5 or 6 shows within driving distance of me... if the world tour gets huge - they might have a chance to get noticed here... maybe grab a little radio play... tons of shows for me to go to.
that's how the math works in my head, anyway, probably not in real life.
and also, it's all about me. ("I hope they have enough success that I can see them 12 times a summer" is how my mind works)

My predictions:

The band will take its time with the lyrics and music to get it perfect. The band will try hard to emulate the authentic sound of Live from the MJ and TC and SS days.

It will be released in early 2013.

It will have 12 songs.

Two of them will be softer songs like those on Shinn's solo album.

Eight of them will rock and/or have a TDTH feel to them.

Two of them will be flat out heavy.

The lyrics will sound like they were demo tracks from Mental Jewelry - peace, love, light and energy, becoming un-attached to conditioning, bias and influences.

There will be NO references to fish, water, Jesus, or the Buddha.

Chris Shinn will sounds amazing.

The album will be a thousand times better than V, BoP and SFBM and will have a balanced emphasis on music and lyrics.

It will have little commercial success, and Rolling Stone and Billboard won't even mention it.

Live fans who discover the album will absolutely love it.

Ed fans will complain and criticize it on completely baseless and factually and artistically incorrect grounds.

We will all still be here in mid-2013 reviewing the album and saying it is the greatest thing ever. We will still be fighting with Nick, obsessing over every little move that Live makes and acting as if this is exciting to more than just the two dozen of us who come here every day to get our daily "fix" of whatever strange and unexplainable pleasure this place seems to give us.

My expectation:

The sun will rise, the sun will set.
And inbetween a whole lot of shit.

My expanded expectation list is forthcoming. This was just a teaser.

Fish, I don't know how you manage to do it but every time you set thoughts to text you strike gold.

This is so true, There really are about 2 dozen of us and we can't get enough of everything. I can only imagine the lurkers. nervous.gif

Do we even know if the new material will take the form of a commercially available studio album? I swear someone alluded to the possibility of an EP or even just downloadable tracks...

which wouldn't bother me as long as its good music

I can't imagine a scenario where they got back to doing Live without idea of releasing full new album of tunes. I mean, I'm sure they'd play just for the hell of playing because they love it so much, it's their life. But that's also why it's hard to imagine them getting back together without wanting and actively trying to record and release a full album.

It looks like they are editing recent Live concert footage.
