I'm sad that the only thought I had after reading this was "yeah, right." No excitement, no anticipation.

Same. Tough to juggle releasing a film and an album. I worked for a film company at one time. It gets pretty damn hectic when you are trying to release locally or nationally.

The good little boys and girls might get Hold Me Up. The bad ones will get SFBM outtakes.

That would be amazing but wasn't thinking it would happen.

It may work on a studio recording, but I seriously doubt that an Ed impersonator will be accepted at an actual "LIVE" concert.

......um what was that?

Well, I pretty much stand by everything I wrote:

Chris Shinn isn't as good as Ed - especially on I Alone. You're not sayin that Shinn is better than Ed, are you? Ed does have one of the most unique voices in rock.

I'm happy Live is playing again, but still hope that one day Ed comes back to Live. This is very unlikely though, because Ed has lost his creative magic. Alive, V, SFBM are so fucking horrible (Alive actually makes me sick when I listen to it), I think the real Ed might be lost forever.

I think it's cool that Live music is being played again. Just not sure Shinn can replace Ed on classic Live.

Not saying that at all. Once you experience it in person, you'll see his own way about it and it fits in. I cherish his time in Live up until early 2000, but since it's not the same, he's not the same, he's in another place and the band is in a better place now to continue.

I think he has replaced him. I think we'll see how it turns out once more shows are played and their new tunes come out.

So what if Shinn isn't as good as 1994 EK, he's certainly better compared to 2001-2009 EK during his time with Live.

Well I would call that being accepted!

Chris Shinn can hold his own out the front of CCP.

It Doesn't matter if he's better/worse pre/post 2000 - its all personal opinion.

To me what matters is LIVE is back! These guys ROCK! rockin.gif rockin.gif rockin.gif

It isn't a matter of replacing Ed, it's a simple matter of f'n rock and roll.

They are knocking that part through the roof.

Live isn't trying to "replace" classic Ed.

90's Ed was replaced by crappy Ed. The switch had already happened. Shinn is replacing crappy Ed (also known as "Quit the band Ed"), which is a GREAT thing because Shinn is better and if Shinn didn't replace him then Live would be without a singer. Let me break it down like this...

90's Ed version of I Alone > Shinn version of I Alone
crappy Ed version of I Alone < Shinn version of I Alone

We are never getting 90's Ed back and no one wants crappy Ed. So we have Shinn who does a pretty damn good job. He puts the energy back into the classic songs and it will be interesting to see what the new songs are like.

If they wanted to replace Ed they would have re-recorded TC and sold it (like Ed and his bootleg shows) instead of rehearsing and giving the tracks to us.

At least Ed did give us a free YouTube blog video of My Sex is on Fire... facepalm.gif

Ya, they're not going to replace Ed, but they are going to move on without him. Ed made his choice and I'm happy with theirs.

Ed of the 90's died in the 90's and the Ed of post 2000 does not even come close to comparing to the Chris Shinn of today with LIVE. I think for most of us that started following this band in the 90's this is a breath of fresh air and while it may not be Ed of the 90's it's ten times better then the Ed of today.

I continued to attend LIVE shows post 2000 mostly due to the fire that was lit in the 90's, even though Ed continued to slide off of a cliff. I was lucky enough to attend the York show recently and the fire and energy is back. LIVE most likely will never regain the popularity they once had but for me that is not important. What is important is that my favorite band is back and as long as I get to see them and get some new music I am a happy man guitar.gif guitar.gif

Now it is 2012 and LIVE in 2012 is not Ed, it's Chris. If you don't like it that is your choice but for those that don't why still linger on the LIVE thread (you specifically troll? There is a thread dedicated to Ed that maybe you should go hang out in. I don't read or post negativity in Ed's thread so maybe you should show some respect and do the same. The train is about to board so get on the new LIVE train and support them or be left behind. rockin.gif rockin.gif rockin.gif
