I'm so proud of you guys......Anyway, I think all their energy/resources should be used to write and record new music (including new TGF). It's the next natural step. If any re-recording is to be done, maybe take the top 10 b-sides and re-record with Chris and put those out. SS Church sessions would excite me as well. They're also going to have to get out and tour to continue Chris's development in the band. This doesn't include other Think Loud projects. With all this on their plate, is re-recording TC a top priority?

They wouldn't need to re-record it and I wouldn't want them to think they need to re-record it. TC is perfectly fine just the way it is. But remixing/remastering it the way PJ did with Ten would be awesome. It would give the overall sound of the album more clarity. I think I remember CT saying one time somewhere (maybe the issue of 97 Guitar magazine... "Titans of Tone"?) that one thing he had regretted about the recording of TC was that the tone of the guitars got somewhat lost in translation. I don't know what the reason for that was or if I've even got that quote correct. Correct me if I'm wrong there.

Even if they were going to do this with TC, new music would obviously get top priority. As it should. But the 20th anniversary of TC is a little over 2 years away. There's probably time to plan & execute something like this if they wanted to.

He said that in his letter to fans about TDTH. I re-read it yesterday. Priceless stuff.

Do I say "priceless" too often lately?

You mean the blog entry/letter? I don't remember it from there.

+Ed+ and I talked via PM. I thought he was talking about something else related to Homespun. I'm a dork.

I've read the the response letter multiple times. It seems fresh every time I read it. There's so much info there to chew on. It's great stuff. I'm really looking forward to the book he's writing.

Found the quote: http://bit.ly/HDNVaH

"Not many guitar overdubs?

Chad: No. The thing I didn't like about Throwing Copper was that we'd cut such wonderful basic tracks, but then go back and recut them, overdub them or layer them. Sometimes the meat or intensity of the guitar tone was lost by overdubbing. So this time most of the songs only have one or two guitar tracks. I might play through two or three amps going to tape, and Ed would use one or two. Since he was used to playing a channel-switching Marshall, we'd give him that in his headphones, but we were usually recording some other amp that he wasn't even hearing. We'd record them live, and if the track was mostly there, we'd just go back and clean it up a little. I did overdub most of the solos, but the ones on "Graze" and "Rattlesnake" were cut live right with the band. I tried to overdub them, but they were never as good as the originals."

Addressing the title of the thread - I don't want them to do anything with it or any of the old music. Unless Ed is involved I'd say it's simply time to move forward.

If they want to throw some newly recorded oldies on their website that's great, but really, the only time I want to hear the oldies is Live in concert. Just my personal thought.

Just give me a version of TC that has some dynamic range instead of the sonic mess that is a song like WD....brickwalled to death on the album.

The standard 2CD-1 DVD option would be best.....disc 1, TC remastered with full dynamic range. Disc 2, TC demos. The DVD of a full, uncut live show. Plus MTV Unplugged. smile.gif
