I like Tool. I like Live. I'm a living paradox!

Seriously, I would think most people like varying genres of music - you know, a certain feel for a certain mood...or am I alone on this??

Nope, I'm with you! thumbsup.gif

I can't see a fan of Tool being a fan of Live. And for me, vice versa.. Honestly, if I had to listen to a minute of Tool's "music", I'd be physically sick for a week.

I think you're letting your personal taste cloud your judgement. Try to be a bit more open minded. I used to like Tool - a lot. I'm not so keen on them now. I have liked Live a lot more for a lot longer a duration. You probably wouldn't think a NIN fan would be a live fan either, but we have a couple on here. Again, I used to be one myself and for many years I was a fanatic of both bands at the same time. I've also been completely in love with AFI for about a decade - again, nothing at all like Live... and I can hear you retching from here. lol.gif

Haha, well some of that hurt but it was entertaining. Someone loves "What Are We Fighting For?!" And someone said "on the DVD you will barf if you watch Ed's interview, by the pool, full of total rock star arrogance."

I was expecting MUCH worse...I actually found that fairly complementary, esp given 1) McPheezy posted the link, and 2) what I'm assuming, given the posts' content and vernacular, is a young age demographic...

And the biggest surprise is that I think McPheezy posted a relatively fair and honest review of LIVE...

Nice work thumbsup.gif

Also wanted to comment on several posters discussing LIVE's "cool" status...is that the prerequisite for liking a band...their being "cool"?

I can't see a fan of Tool being a fan of Live.

Is that because Live's new stuff is pretty crap? Because I still love their old stuff. And ALL of Tool's.

I'm sure we'd feel the same about some of the music you like. Each to their own. Unless its Nickelback, then you just suck. tongue.gif

I like Tool a lot. Love their original sound. The only thing about them is I feel that their album contain a lot of "fillers." Long songs of silence or chanting. I can't get into those.

Yeah interesting to hear about Live on a Tool forum, thanks pheezy.

Also, good work with that post, that's one of the most honest appraisals of Live and their music I've seen in a while.

I'm into both Live and Tool-- though I think you'll find any people enjoying both Live and Tool will name Live's first 3 or 4 albums as markedly superior to their last 3. I do credit Live, or Ed, rather, with being solid at pop songwriting, I'm just disappointed they're not the rock band they once promised they could continue to be. I want a bit of that anger back- Tool still has it, not to mention virtuoso musicianship. Live have reduced significantly whatever innovations they used to apply in their music.
